    • A small-sized full HD plasma display device with high luminance is to be provided. The plasma display device according to the present invention comprises: first and second substrates; first and second electrodes formed on the first substrate so as to generate sustain discharge on the first substrate; and third electrodes formed on the second substrate so as to generate address discharge with the second electrodes, wherein the first to third electrodes form one pixel including cells of R, G and B, display of 1920×1080 pixels can be made, a length of a diagonal line of a display screen is shorter than 132 cm, an interlace drive is used, almost half of the third electrodes are connected to a drive circuit from an upper side of a panel, and the rest of the third electrodes are connected to the drive circuit from a lower side of the panel.

    • A plasma display device is provided which has a first substrate and a second substrate; a first electrode and a second electrode formed on the first substrate to perform sustain discharge on the first substrate; a third electrode formed on the second substrate to perform address discharge between the second electrode and the third electrode; a dielectric layer formed of a silicon oxide film in a manner to cover the first and second electrodes on the first substrate; and a discharge gas existing between the first and second substrates and having a Xe concentration within 10%±2.5%. The dielectric layer has a thickness within 10 μm±2.5 μm. The first to third electrodes constitute one pixel, and display of 1920×1080 pixels is possible.

    • A driving method of a PDP which discharges between respective adjacent display electrodes, wherein wasteful light emission caused by inefficiency of reset operation is reduced. The driving method being provided with a lattice shaped rib and an interlace driving method. By driving waveforms to respective display electrodes, the reset operation is performed to only one of odd-numbered and even-numbered display lines according to interlace driving of adjacent even-numbered and odd-numbered display lines. A pair of display electrodes of the other of the even-numbered and odd-numbered display lines being a non-objective of the reset operation, potential difference thereof is set to be 0 or smaller than a discharge starting voltage. In an odd-numbered field, the even-numbered display line is reset, and in an even-numbered field, the odd-numbered display line is reset.

    • A magnetic scale is disclosed wherein a magnetic member is protected with certainty to effectively enhance the durability. The magnetic scale includes a magnetic member provided between outside and inside pipe members and has magnetic graduations magnetized alternately with the N and S poles along the extending direction thereof. When the magnetic member and the inside pipe member are assembled in the outside pipe member, the inside pipe member contacts partly with an inner face of the outside pipe member and partly with a back face of the magnetic member in such a manner as to cover the overall back face. The outer face of the inside pipe member presses the back face of the magnetic member over the overall length so that the close contact face of the magnetic member is closely contacted with the inner face of the outside pipe member.
