    • A computer program product has a computer-readable storage medium having computer program instructions embodied therein for performing a method for implementing a privacy policy for a user. The method may include the user developing rules that determine whether another user (requester) can access information related to the user. The rules may be stored in a database coupled to a server and evaluated when a request is received from the requester to access the information. If a rule is satisfied by the requester, the server can return the information to the requester. The information can be returned at a level of granularity specified by the user in the satisfied rule. A privacy level can be set by the user to allow access to requesters based on the rules or to deny access to any requesters.

    • The invention pertains to location approximation of devices, e.g., wireless access points and client devices in a wireless network. Location estimates may be obtained by observation/analysis of packets transmitted or received by the access point. For instance, data rate information associated with a packet is used to approximate the distance between a client device and the access point. This may be coupled with known positioning information to arrive at an approximate location for the access point. Confidence information and metrics about whether a device is an access point and the location of that device may also be determined. Accuracy of the location determination may be affected by factors including propagation and environmental factors, transmit power, antenna gain and diversity, etc. A location information database of access points may employ measurements from various devices over time. Such information may identify the location of client devices and provide location-based services to them.

    • The invention is addressing the problem of efficient formation and maintenance of piconets with assistance from the master of an already existing piconet. The master of an existing piconet initiates the formation of a new helper piconet by at least two of its slaves. One of the slaves of the existing piconet becomes the master of the newly formed helper piconet and the other slave becomes a slave of the helper piconet. This process can be used to expand the number of Bluetooth devices that can use an Internet access point. It can also be used to permit two slave devices to communicate directly with one another so as not to unnecessarily use bandwidth available through the master. Finally, the method and system could be used to provide a method of efficient hand-off from one piconet to another.

    • A body implantable lead system includes an over-the-wire lead with a longitudinally extending lumen. A hollow stylet having an outer peripheral surface is introduced into the lumen and an annular resilient blood seal within the lumen may be sealingly positioned between the outer peripheral surface of the stylet and the lead to prevent flow of blood beyond the blood seal and into the lumen in a proximal direction. A guidewire is slidably received within the hollow stylet and includes a tip end which may project through the passage at the distal end of the lead such that relative movement of the guidewire and stylet within the lead is enabled while avoiding friction between the blood seal and the guidewire. Either the guidewire or the stylet may be preshaped for proper placement of the lead for engagement with the body tissue and surrounded by a semi-rigid retractable sheath.
