    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photovoltaic device capable of enhancing the power conversion efficiency of a device by capturing much light energy existing in sunlight and generating much electricity.SOLUTION: The photovoltaic device includes a substrate, an anode, a cathode, two semiconductor layers, and an electron transport layer. A first semiconductor layer includes first metallophthalocyanine. A second semiconductor layer includes a blend of second metallophthalocyanine and an electron acceptor. The second semiconductor layer is disposed between the first semiconductor layer and the electron transport layer. The first metallophthalocyanine and the second metallophthalocyanine have different valences from each other. A complementary absorption profile of these layers provides a device which has no need for forming a recombination layer because of larger absorption and higher efficiency than would be expected nor need for unifying electric currents between layers.
