摘要： A process for forming an overcoated electrophotographic imaging member by applying a coating of a cross-linkable siloxanol-colloidal silica hybrid material on an electrophotographic imaging member and thereafter contacting the coating with a fugitive ammonia gas condensation catalyst until the siloxanol-colloidal silica hybrid material forms a cross-linked solid layer. The cross-linkable siloxanol-collaidal silica hybrid material may be prepared by hydrolyzing trifunctional organosilanes and stabilizing the hydrolyzed silanes with collidal silica. The electrophotographic imaging member may comprise inorganic or organic photoconductive components in one or more layers.

摘要： An imaging method utilizing an imaging member containing a supporting substrate, a layer of a charge carrier injecting surface, a hole blocking layer, an optional adhesive layer, a layer of a charge carrier transport material, a layer of an charge carrier generating material, an optional charge trapping layer, a crossed linked silicone rubber, and an electrically insulating overcoating layer. The member is first charged with electrostatic charges of a first polarity, charged a second time with electrostatic charges of a polarity opposite to said first polarity in order to substantially neutralize the charges residing on the electrically insulating surface of the member and exposed to an imagewise pattern of activating electromagnetic radiation whereby an electrostatic latent image is formed. The electrostatic latent image may be developed to form a visible image which may be transferred to a receiver member. The imaging member may be reused after erasure and cleaning.

摘要： A surface layer on an imaging member has a surface roughness which reduces the force necessary for blade cleaning, reduces blade edge tuck, reduces blade/substrate friction, inhibits the formation of toner-type deposits on the imaging surface, and/or reduces or eliminates light interference patterns resulting from coherent light, for example, from a raster output scanner. The surface roughness comprises a lateral roughness of between about 1 micrometer and about 200 micrometers, and a vertical roughness less than or equal to about 1 micrometer. The roughness may be defined by asperites formed by circulation patterns formed in the layer during drying or it may be defined by hemispheric dots of the overcoat layer formed during drying.
