摘要： A magneto-optical recording layer having a double-layer structure of a first magnetic layer made of an amorphous alloy of a light rare earth-transition metal and a semi-metal, and a second magnetic layer made of an amorphous alloy of a heavy rare earth-transition metal, and a magneto-optical disk adopting the magneto-optical recording layer. In the magneto-optical recording layer, a p-d electron orbit coupling is induced between the transition metal and the semi-metal to reduce the magnetic moment of the amorphous alloy of light rare earth-transition metal without decreasing the magnetic moment of the light rare earth metal, thereby attaining a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. As a result, a high density magneto-optical recording layer has a double-layer structure including a ferro-magnetic reproducing layer having an excellent magneto-optical characteristic and a ferro-magnetic recording layer having an improved recording stability by an increase of a coercive force, and the double-layer structure is formed on a magneto-optical disk.
