    • A battery operated watch includes an actuator mechanism adapted to actuating indicator hands of the watch. The actuating mechanism includes a gear train adapted to drive indicator hands, a motor for driving the gear train, and an electronic block unit. The electronic block unit includes an oscillator and electronic circuit for operating the motor. A mechanism plate and bridge are provided. A carrier plate of insulative material is disposed between the mechanism plate and bridge. The carrier plate has pockets, including indentations, bores and openings, for receiving and retaining in position at least some components of the actuating mechanism. Means is provided for securing the mechanism plate, bridge, and carrier plate together, including a plurality of pillars extending between the mechanism plate and the bridge.

    • A watch of the watertight type has a housing including a downwardly apertured housing portion for transmitting sound. A diaphragm is attached to the housing in a manner effecting a watertight seal. The diaphragm is capable of flexure toward and away from the apertured housing portion. A piezo electric buzzer element is secured internally of the diaphragm and is responsive to electrical excitation for producing a buzzing sound. An electrical circuit is connected to the piezo element for electrically exciting the piezo element. A safety mechanism is provided for preventing an excessive amount of flexure of the diaphragm in response to pressure acting thereon. A first safety element is secured to the diaphragm. A second safety element is secured to the housing. The first safety element is movable, with the diaphragm, relative to the second safety element in an inward direction away from the apertured housing portion. The second safety element includes a stop for contacting the first safety element to limit the amount of flexure of the diaphragm.

    • A watch contains a date indicator ring and a day of week indicator ring. A switching wheel is displaceable selectively into meshing engagement with the indicator rings to effect adjustment thereof. The switching wheel is actuated by a shaft which is axially displaceable between selection and working positions. In its selection position, the shaft can be rotated in either direction to selectively place the switching wheel in one of two preliminary locations corresponding to a date ring adjustment location and a day of week ring adjustment position. By then axially displacing the shaft to its working position, the switching wheel is displaced to a final location to effect the previously selected mode of adjustment. Such adjustment is effected by rotating the shaft in either direction to rotate the respective indicator ring in either direction.

    • A radio-controlled timepiece includes a clock face, a hands assembly mounted for rotation about an axis in front of the clock face, and an alarm setting mechanism. The alarm setting mechanism comprises a minute setting disk which is driven by an hour setting disk. A manually rotatable transparent support disk is mounted in front of the clock face for rotation about the same axis as the hands assembly. The support disk carries a marker which, when the support member is rotated, is moved to indicate a particular hour and minute indicator on the clock face. The support disk is connected to the hour setting disk to rotate the latter which, in turn, rotates the minute setting disk. The support disk is accessible to rotation at the front of the clock. The hour and minute setting disks are preferably connected to an alarm time storage device by means of conductive fingers which are mounted on the disks and which are engageable with concentric conductive strips mounted on a stationary part of the clock.

    • A small electric device powered by solar cells and by a capacitive charge storage element has stable actuation assured during startup with an as yet uncharged capacitor. Startup problems are avoided by control of the power supply with a threshold value circuit that allows power to be supplied to device components when the components' minimum actuating voltage level has been attained at the capacitor. A deactuating voltage value of the threshold value circuit that is lower than the actuating voltage level prevents interruptions of operation similar to relaxation oscillation behavior due to temporarily increased actuating power requirements by causing deactivation of the components only if the capacitor voltage has dropped below a predetermined operational minimum. In this manner additional functions (such as radio watches with automatic hands setting devices or directional antennas, or ornamental pendulums or alarm or striking watches) which have components with higher acutating power requirements may be supplied without batteries by solar cells without having to overdimension the storage capacitor for the high startup load and thereby unnecessarily delay actuation of the device upon the exposure to radiation of the solar cells.

    • A date adjusting mechanism for a timepiece includes a date ring and an operating shaft mounted for axial and rotational displacement. The shaft is axially shiftable into and from a date control position. A date control gear is mounted on the shaft. A correcting gear is continuously connected to the date control gear. The correcting gear is shiftable toward and away from driving engagement with the date ring. A stop lever is rotatably mounted to the frame of the time piece. Linkage is provided for connecting the stop lever to the operating shaft to rotate the stop member into a position blocking movement of the correcting gear into driving engagement with the date ring when the operating shaft is axially displaced from its date control position.

    • An autonomous radio controlled timepiece having a display for displaying information relative to receiving conditions to provide the consumer with increased assurance regarding the accuracy of the instantaneous time display. For this purpose, an analog or digital, optionally multidigit display element is provided, which displays supplemental information concerning the quality of reception, expressed as an indication of the period of time elapsed since the most recent monitoring and possible correction of the time display, the correction based on the information received by radio and decoded. The display element offers the lowest possible display value if the radio reception conditions are good enough that each actuation of the receiver leads to the acquisition of usable time information. The degree of certainty in the accuracy of the time display predisposes the timepiece to be used as an alarm clock in particular, in which case the alarm clock need only be equipped with setting elements for preselecting the time of alarm, for an alarm interruption or deactivation, and optionally for the switching of a supplemental display between displaying the preselected time of alarm and date information obtained from the radio information.
