    • The present invention relates to a process for the production of coatings by coating substrates of any type with a coating composition of which the binder consists essentially of a mixture of:(a) a polyisocyanate component and(b) at least one organic polyhydroxyl compound, distinguished by the fact that the polyisocyanate component(a) is a reaction product obtained from:(i) a polyisocyanate mixture which, in addition to from about 20 to 80%, by weight, of 2,4'-diisocyanato diphenyl methane, contains a total of from about 80 to 20%, by weight, of 2,2'-diisocyanato diphenyl methane, 4,4'-diisocyanato diphenyl methane and, optionally, higher nuclear polyisocyanates of the diphenyl methane series and(ii) a polyhydroxy polyether containing at least one tertiary amine nitrogen atom and having an average molecular weight of from about 500 to 10,000 or a polyhydroxy polyether mixture containing at least one such polyhydroxy polyether and having an average molecular weight of from about 500 to 10,000.components (i) and (ii) having been reacted in an NCO:OH equivalent ratio of from about 300:1 to 10:1 to form a reaction product containing free isocyanate groups and urethane groups.

    • A valve device, especially for die casting machines. The device comprises a control drive and a control member which is arranged between the control drive and the valve cone, and which converts the rotary movement of the control drive into an axial stroke movement. The object of the invention is to provide a quick acting valve device with which the adjustable limited opening of the valve cone can, with the aid of small manual or motor forces, be effected with structurally simple means in a space saving device housing in the direct drive. For this purpose, the control member which serves to adjust the opening limitation of the valve cone is a threaded sleeve which engages in a thread of the valve housing. Every time the working surfaces of the valve cone are acted upon by pressure, different hydraulic pressures are exerted upon the oppositely located end faces of the threaded sleeve for releasing the sides of the threads of the sleeve from the sides of the threads of the housing.

    • The instant invention is directed to a process for the production of isocyanate polyisocyanates containing at least 50%, by weight, of tris-isocyanatomonoisocyanurates and at most 3%, by weight, of isocyanurate-free diisocyanate. The process comprises catalytically trimerizing the organic diisocyanates free from isocyanurate groups and terminating the trimerization reaction by deactivation of the catalyst after 5 to 40% of the isocyanate groups of the isocyanurate-free diisocyanate have been trimerized. The unreacted isocyanurate-free diisocyanate is then distilled off in the presence of from 1 to 30%, by weight, based on the end product obtained as distillation residue, of an inert liquid distillation aid which boils at a temperature at least 50.degree. C. above the boiling point of the isocyanurate-free diisocyanate.The invention is also directed to the products produced by this process.
