    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the driving force of a drive unit without allowing the width thereof to exceed a width preset for transporting the self-traveling civil engineering machine. SOLUTION: This self-traveling civil engineering machine, particularly a road cutting machine, a road regenerating machine, and a road stabilizer comprises: a frame 2 supported by a set of drive parts 1; a working unit 4, particularly a working drum for performing the operations required for civil engineering; and the drive unit 5 supported on the frame and driving the working drum. A driving force transmission means 6 is used for transmitting the driving force from the drive unit to the working unit. The drive unit 5 of the self-traveling civil engineering machine comprises first and second drive engines 5A, 5B. The driving force transmission means 6 can transmit both the driving forces from the first and second drive engines to the working unit. The cab is movable on the machine frame in the direction perpendicular to the traveling direction. The seat is formed integrally with the cab movable to the outside beyond the lateral outer wall of the machine frame. A guide 18 for the cab operable in the direction perpendicular to the traveling direction is attached to the machine frame.

The control means 23 can obtain the present cutting depth by a measuring means for detecting an ascent, caused by the present cutting depth, of a first sensor means placed on the ground or a descent of a second sensor means onto the surface of the cutting track.
