摘要： There is provided a method for generating an error signal for an automatic frequency control (AFC) loop in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system. Sign information relating to phase differences in received pilot signals is accumulated. In one embodiment, the accumulated sign information is compared against predetermined threshold levels. The error signal is generated when at least one of the predetermined threshold levels is satisfied. In a second embodiment, the accumulated sign information is decimated. An output of the decimating step is utilized as the error signal for the AFC loop.

摘要： A receiver comprises a number of fingers, each finger providing symbols associated with a path of a received multipath signal, and a maximal ratio combiner (MRC) that activates to combine the symbols when the symbols are available. In an illustrative embodiment a receiver is a CDMA receiver and comprises a number of fingers, an interface, and an MRC. Each finger provides symbols asociated with a path of a received multipath signal for the various channels conveyed therein, the interface provides an indiction when symbols from the fingers are ready for processing to the MRC, which then activates to combine those symbols from the fingers that are asociated with the same channel. Illustratively, the interface includes a priority encoder for selecting different channels for processing by the MRC. Further, the MRC can be configured to operate with a clock rate that is greater than a chip rate. By selectively activating the MRC, or at least a portion thereof, a reduction in the number of combining circuits can be achieved within the MRC.

Using a wireless link to communicate signaling between each micro cell and the control element in the UMTS system eliminates the need for a wired back haul link, thereby reducing access costs.

摘要： A preamble identifier flag in a reserved portion of a data field synchronization segment in a digital television (DTV) data field identifies the presence of preamble training data in a forward error correction (FEC) encoded portion of the DTV data field. The data field synchronization segment is not FEC encoded, thereby allowing detection of the preamble identifier flag without FEC decoding. The detection at a receiver of the preamble identifier flag in a DTV data field allows receiver elements, such as an equalizer and a FEC decoder, to more readily obtain and utilize the preamble training data, thereby enhancing reception and/or simplifying receiver design.
