    • A high-pressure metal vapor discharge lamp, for example and specifically aetal halide vapor discharge lamp, has a discharge vessel, in which electrodes are fitted from both ends, in form of an elongated ceramic hollow body, in which, in accordance with the invention, the ceramic is translucent, high-purity aluminum nitride (AIN). The end portions are closed off by closing electrodes in form of either solid pins or rods, from which electrode elements carried on shafts (13) extend, or a hollow tube (19) fitted into the end portion of the aluminum nitride discharge vessel and pinched and soldered shut. The solid or tubular closing elements can be inserted into a pre-sintered discharge vessel, preferably under inert atmospheric conditions, in a meticulously clean environment. For translucidness, the high-purity aluminum nitride should have less than 0.05% of metal cations, which may cause coloring or discoloration, less than 0.01% iron as two or three valent ions, and less than 0.01% of silicon or tungsten carbide (all percentages by weight), but may contain dopings between 0.01% and 5% of oxides or fluorides of the metals yttrium, calcium, neodymium, lanthenum and/or aluminum.

    • The invention relates to a vapor exhaust hood with a housing which features at least one intake opening equipped at a minimum with one filter, and features at least one outlet opening, and the inside surfaces of which are in part lined with a sound-deadening material, with a fan arranged in the housing. Arranged in the housing, at least opposite each inlet opening of the fan, is sound-absorbing material which from the opposite inlet opening is spaced at least the radius of the fan wheel. The sound-absorbing material has a surface which in size corresponds at least to a circular surface whose radius matches that of the fan wheel. Further measures for noise reduction consist in the arrangement of a vane in the area of the outlet opening, in the application of sound-deadening and/or sound-damping material as well as in the elastic mounting of fan and/or fan motor. The invention thus creates a vapor exhaust hood in which, for one, the number of noise generators is reduced and, for another, inevitable noise is damped and deadened.

    • A gas burner for cooking areas includes a lower part and an upper part. The upper part has gas repulsion ducts with gas outlet openings for gas flames. The upper part is rotatably mounted on the lower part by a compressed-air bearing configured to apply a compressed-air cushion to pneumatically lift the upper part off the lower part for allowing contactless turning of the upper part in relation to the lower part about an axis of rotation. The gas repulsion ducts are formed to drive the upper part in relation to the lower part about the axis of rotation by gas flowing through the gas repulsion ducts at positive pressure. Such a configuration makes it possible to evenly distribute the heat of the flames in the periphery of the burner and to minimize minimum gas burner output by using less flames.
