    • A method for monitoring the transport of a thread in a weaving machine is presented in which the thread includes thread sections (21, 21.i) which are transported with an associated speed (vi). In this method, values (24) of at least one kinematic measurement parameter of at least one thread section (21, 21.i) are measured and, based on the measured values (24), approximation values (25) of the tensile force which acts on at least one thread section (21, 21.i) are calculated by means of a computation model (2). The computed approximation values (25) are displayed for monitoring purposes.

    • The method enables the dynamic running characteristics of diesel engines to be adjusted by use of a simulator via an electronic speed governor R for controlling the fuel pump injection. The method allows simulation of the number of cylinders and number of strokes of the diesel engine under adjustment, and variation of the torque curve of individual cylinders. It is also possible to test the running of the diesel engine and its governor (R) under load changes of the most diverse kinds, such as load reduction or complete or partial failure of a cylinder. The simulator includes blocks for generating signals corresponding to an injection pump setting, for simulating the torque curve or curves of the engine cylinders and integrating the generated torque signals including on-load torque and disturbance signals to form a speed signal. A voltage/frequency convertor converts the speed signal to a frequency signal for output to the electronic governor.

In this arrangement, during a weft thread insertion (7) a first measurement value (8) of a movement parameter (9) of the weft thread (2) is determined, a first estimate value (10) for the movement parameter (9) is estimated on the basis of the first measurement value (8) and a correction value (11) is determined from it. The movement parameter (9) of the weft thread (2) is then corrected on the basis of the correction value (11).
