    • An implant and coverings for an implant for used in the human body are disclosed. Coverings for implants are constructed to present a biocompatible surface to the body and to provide a textured surface which serves to disorganize scar tissue which forms around the implant. Filaments of expanded PTFEe are attached to a stretch fabric backing in a loose weave configuration. Silicone molded in geometric patterns may be employed to present a textured surface. Compressive structures may be beneficially used on the surface of the implant or in the interior of the implant. Foam is one such compressive structure. Hexagonally shaped compressive cells containing fluid, gas, gel or foam are adapted to receive an insert which contains an outer biocompatible coating. A valve or port is provided to communicate between the cell and the body. Expansions means may be provided to expand the implant in a desired direction.

    • Bio-implantable textured tubular and sheet structures of un-sintered ePTFE are described. Such micro-textured structures stimulate robust development of beneficial bio-integative scar attachment to adnexal soft tissues. Methods for texturing one side of an un-sintered extruded ePTFE tube or sheet are also described. A select length of tubing of any thickness or diameter is applied over a matching mandrel and adhesively stabilized thereon by applying intense suction. The texture is made by “RIGDA tooling” into the wall thickness of the material and by removing undesired material by distraction and avulsion tooling and methods assisted by vibration, leaving intact the finished product. Disclosed is an implantable, non-attached, enveloping, conforming and supportive drainage cover for breast and other soft implants. The drainage cover has numerous through and through cut lucencies which allow for liberal ingress and egress of interstitial biologic fluids enabling efficient drainage postoperatively, especially under the influence of active wound suction.

The fill port structure preferably comprises a shell, the shell including an opening, a compartment interior to the shell adapted to contain a filler. The limpet buttress is generally cup-shaped, and is disposed within the shell. The limpet buttress is preferably attached to the shell adjacent the opening to form a fluidic seal, optionally via a sealing flange. The limpet buttress may include one or more ribs, such as to provide structural support to the limpet buttress. Preferably, a reservoir is disposed external to the shell.

    • A soft tissue expander has enhanced performance through use of differential and directional expandability, continuous expansion capability, increased base and dimensional stability, increased soft tissue purchase by virtue of unique surface topography, and results in improved cavity contour after expansion. Expansion means may be provided to expand the implant in a desired direction. In the preferred embodiment, an expander or implant has an exterior surface defining a volume, the exterior surface including a base portion, a first wall and a second wall, wherein the second wall is relatively thinner than the first wall. A fill port, which may be integrally molded into the expander, is included. As the expander is inflated, differential expansion occurs with the relatively thin second wall section expanding more than that of the first wall section. The base may include ribs or other molded-in structures to increase structural integrity. Optionally, a bellows may be included on the exterior surface of the expander, the bellows optionally including a limiting ring. Molded-in geometric patterns may be employed to present textured internal, as well as external surfaces to the implant or expander. Compressive structures may be used on the inside or outside surface of the implant.

    • A tool and method for introducing an implant through an incision in a body utilizing a tube having a hole through which the implant is pressed. In the preferred embodiment, a two part tube has one opened end and one closed end. The tube contains an expanding structure, for applying pressure on the implant, optionally a pressure transmitting structure, and an implant. The expanding structure is expanded optionally by gas or fluid filling the structure. Optionally, a collar is disposed around the tube near the opening, selectively covering and uncovering a cut-out in the tube which permits manipulation of the implant prior to insertion.
