    • The present invention relates to antigen-binding polypeptides, particularly antibody fragments, and especially single-chain antibodies, which specifically bind to bacterial F4 (K88)-fimbriae. The polypeptides may neutralize the attachment of F4 (K88) fimbriae to enterocytes and/or have a protective and/or curative effect on infection of mammals, especially pigs, with bacteria expressing F4 (K88)-fimbriae. Furthermore, the invention relates to polynucleotides encoding said F4 (K88)-binding polypeptides, vectors comprising these polynucleotides and prokaryotic or eukaryotic host cells comprising these polynucleotides or vectors. Also provided are transgenic plants or parts thereof and microorganisms expressing the polynucleotides of the present invention. The plants or plant parts expressing the polypeptides may be used as fodder for mammals, and especially pigs. Furthermore, the present invention provides compositions comprising said F4 (K88)-binding polypeptides, and methods of producing said polypeptides.
