    • Vessel structural support system for laterally and vertically supporting a vessel (20), such as a nuclear steam generator (20) having an exterior bottom surface (40) and a side surface (70) thereon. The system includes a bracket (120, 300, 320) connected to the bottom surface (40). A support column (160, 270) is pivotally connected to the bracket (40) for vertically supporting the steam generator (20). The system also includes a base pad assembly (340) connected pivotally to the support column (160, 270) for supporting the support column (160, 270) and the steam generator (20). The base pad assembly (340), which is capable of being brought to a level position by turning leveling nuts (490), is anchored to a floor (95). The system further includes a male key member (540) attached to the side surface (70) of the steam generator (20) and a female stop member (560) attached to an adjacent wall (570). The male key member (540) and the female stop member (560) coact to laterally support the steam generator (20). Moreover, the system includes a snubber assembly (580) connected to the side surface (70) of the steam generator (20) and also attached to the adjacent wall (570) for dampening lateral movement of the steam generator (20). In addition, the system includes a restraining member of "flat" (600) attached to the side surface (70) of the steam generator (20) and a bumper (610) attached to the adjacent wall (570). The flat (600) and the bumper (610) coact to further laterally support the steam generator (20).

    • Apparatus for sealing the primary-side coolant flow nozzles (280, 290) of a nuclear steam generator (80). The steam generator (80) has relatively small diameter manway openings (170) for providing access to the interior of the steam generator including the inside surface (300) of each nozzle (280, 290), the manway openings (170) having a diameter substantially less than the inside diameter of each nozzle (280, 290). The apparatus includes a bracket (410) having an outside surface (420) for matingly sealingly engaging the inside surface (300) of the nozzle (280, 290). The bracket (410) also has a plurality of openings (440) longitudinally therethrough and a plurality of slots (425) transversely therein in communication with each opening (440). A plurality of unitary plugs (450) sized to pass through the manway opening (170) are matingly sealingly disposed in each opening (440) of the bracket (410) for sealingly plugging each opening (440). Each plug (450) includes a plurality of arms (620) operable to engage the slots (425) of the bracket (410) for connecting each plug (450) to the bracket (410), so that the nozzle (280, 290) is sealed as the plugs (450) seal the openings (440) and are connected to the bracket (410).
