摘要： A tourniquet cuff apparatus is provided comprising an inner sheet joined to an outer sheet to form an inflatable cuff. The outer sheet consists of a material having a fastening surface. An elongated, securing strap (20, 22) attached near a first end of the cuff, is formed to curve around and conform to the shape of a limb to which the cuff is applied, the strap including a second fastener component that can releasably engage the outer fastening surface thereby to enable engagement of the second fastener component on the strap with the outer fastening surface. An engagement barrier (50) is applied to cover a region of the outer fastening surface between a distal side edge and a proximal side edge near a second end of the cuff and prevents engagement of the securing strap to a first fastener component within the region of the outer fastening surface covered by the engagement barrier, wherein the engagement barrier has a barrier shape matching the first fastener component within the region. The engagement barrier (50) further provides a visible indication of contact with a fluid such as blood or a cleaning liquid.

摘要： An automatic tourniquet apparatus comprises a tourniquet cuff, a pressure transducer, a user interface, a patient hazard shield and a pressure regulator. The pressure transducer produces a cuff pressure signal. The user interface produces a reference pressure signal. The patient hazard shield is responsive to the cuff pressure signal and the reference pressure signal, and operable during a regulation time period to produce a patient hazard signal if, in one implementation, a current level of pressure in the tourniquet cuff is greater than the reference level of pressure by at least a predetermined overpressure limit. The pressure regulator is responsive to the patient hazard signal, and has a pressurizing element for increasing pressure in the cuff and a depressurizing element for decreasing pressure in the cuff. The pressurizing element is configured to be non-responsive if the patient hazard signal is produced.

摘要： A tourniquet apparatus comprises a cuff, a user interface, a controller, a protocol hazard key and a protocol safety interlock. The cuff encircles and applies a level of pressure to a limb of an individual patient. The user interface allows selection by a user of a protocol symbol from a plurality of protocol symbols. Each protocol symbol is indicative of a corresponding safety protocol that specifies a plurality of stored pressure levels associated with a plurality of stored times during a stored protocol time period. The user interface is further adapted to enable the user to adjust at least one pressure level of the plurality of stored pressure levels indicated by the selected protocol symbol within safe pressure limits associated with the selected protocol symbol. The controller is responsive to the plurality of stored pressure levels and the plurality of stored times specified by the safety protocol, after any adjustments by the user, and operable during the stored protocol time period for maintaining the level of pressure applied by the cuff to the individual patient near the plurality of stored pressure levels at the plurality of stored times. The protocol hazard key is adapted for manual actuation by the user to end the stored protocol time period at any time while the controller is operable if a hazard to the individual patient is perceived by the user. The protocol safety interlock is adapted to prevent selection of a second protocol symbol by the user while the controller is operable.
