摘要： The invention is a portable vital signs measurement instrument, systems and methods that provide a variety of measurement capabilities, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse oximetry, and other indications of patient status. The instrument, systems and methods include the ability to communicate wirelessly, for example using Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11B), with a server, so that information can be entered easily, securely and reliably into a medical database system accessible by way of the server. The systems and methods provide for the instrument to initiate a communication session by attempting to discover a server access point in its vicinity.

A first display is further disposed on a first side of the supporting structure and a second display is disposed on a second side of the supporting structure in a manner substantially opposite from the first display. SOLUTION: The inside of a device section 21 is formed to have a size for housing a compact video camera such as a charge coupling device(CCD), CMOS or other electronic sensor 68. The electronic sensor 68 has a substrate 72 for regulating an image surface for receiving an optical signal along a visual line 76 extended to the front face 16 of a device main body 12. A series of transmission lines 88 soldered or connected by other means to a series of connector pins extended from the rear part of the electronic sensor 68 to an integrated circuit board 92 arranged in a pistol grip section 19. A rotary plate 92 has a video processing circuit for converting an electric signal from the electronic sensor 68 into a video signal. This video signal is transmitted from the circuit board along the transmission line 88 to a video peripheral device.

摘要： Apparatus for determining refractive aberrations of the eye of a patient includes an instrument housing (40) having a light source (50) for projecting a substantially focused beam of light at the back of the eye of a patient, the substantially focused beam acting as a secondary source for a return light path (70) of a formed outgoing wavefront exiting said eye. An electronic sensor (74) disposed along the return light path, includes a light detecting surface (24) disposed perpendicular to the return light path, and at least one microoptics array (20) disposed between the electronic sensor and the eye along the return light path. The microoptics array includes a plurality of lenslets (22) disposed in a plane perpendicular to the light return path and positioned relative to the electronic sensor so as to substantially focus incremental portions of the outgoing wavefront onto the light detecting surface such that the deviations in the positions of the substantially focused portions impinging on the light detecting surface can be measured so as to determine aberrations of the wavefront. Preferably, at least one pair of conjugate lenses (36, 38) is disposed along the return light path and positioned between the eye and the microoptics array, the lenses of the conjugate pair having unequal focal lengths to allow the device to be used at an effective working distance from a patient.
