    • An ultraviolet ray-absorbing plastic plate which cuts off ultraviolet rays for extended periods of time to protect objects of art from ultraviolet rays and mechanical damage. The ultraviolet ray-absorbing plastic plate is obtained by polymerizing a polymerizable mixture which consists of a radical polymerizable compound containing at least one radical polymerizable monomer which has two or more alpha - beta unsaturated double bonds such as diethylene glycol bisallyl carbonate, a benzophenone-type ultraviolet ray-absorbing agent, and a radical polymerization initiator. The ultraviolet ray-absorbing plastic plate of the invention has a crosslinked structure, does not permit the ultraviolet ray-absorbing agent to bleed out of the surface of the plastic plate even after it has been used for extended periods of time, exhibits excellent properties such as great mechanical strength and heat resistance, and is transparent. Therefore, the plastic plate of the invention is used for protecting eyes and objects of art from the ultraviolet rays, i.e., used as an ultraviolet ray-shielding plate being installed in front of, for instance, a CRT display, as a member for protecting a picture frame, and as a member for cutting off ultraviolet rays generated from a source of light such as lighting apparatus.

    • A method and an apparatus for continuously producing plastic board. To produce a board which is clear and smooth having excellent mechanical strength and heat resistance through simple operation, a polymerizable mixture is poured into a gap defined by two endless belts and gaskets that seal between both sides of the belts. In conventional solenoid valves for mixing liquids, an electromagnet driving portion and a valve portion are disposed adjacent to each other and a plunger of the electromagnet portion and a valve body of the valve portion are connected with a valve rod having high rigidity. However, since a liquid remains inside a pipe that extends from the valve portion of the solenoid valve for mixing liquids and the liquid is dried up at the valve portion by the heat of coil transferred to the valve body, the concentration of the liquid becomes different and accurate mixing cannot be made. To solve these problems, the solenoid valve (1) for mixing liquids in accordance with the present invention separates the electromagnet driving portion (2) from the valve portion (3), connects them with tubular member (38), disposes the valve portion (3) at the tip of this tubular member (38) and connects the valve body (48) of the valve portion (3) to the plunger (28) of the electromagnet driving portion (2) with a wire member (36) inserted through the tubular member (38). As a result, the pipe for delivering the liquids can be shortened or eliminated so that no liquid remains inside the pipe and, since the heat of the coil (21) of the electromagnet driving portion is not transferred easily to the valve body (48), the liquid is neither dried up nor adheres to the valve portion (2).
