摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that it is usually necessary to perform a number of tests on a number of colonies before correct identification can be established because different species of bacterial colonies appear similar. SOLUTION: A sample assumed to contain one or more species of target microbial analytes is added to a growth supporting medium supporting target analyte reproduction so as to form target analyte colonines in or on the medium without allowing the target analyte colonies to migrate on or within the medium and further uniformly dispersing one or more species of labeled analyte-specific materials(LASM) over the whole. After the sample is added to the medium, with the growth of the target analyte colonies in the sample, increasing binding quantities of the LASM create localized intensely labeled areas in the medium which can visually or photometrically be detected.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for separating a molding component from a liquid component of an organism fluid sample. SOLUTION: A sample container has a hydrogel layer on a flat wall surface of an internal chamber, and a transparent part capable of externally observing at a wall opposed to the layer. When an organism fluid sample is introduced into the chamber, the hydrogel absorbs water to be swelled, and a molding component is captured on the surface. The captured component is separated and analyzed. The captured component is analyzed by an optical instrument from an exterior through the transparent part by focusing the captured component.

SOLUTION: This container 10 is provided with one or more chambers 14 for positioning the sample stationarily in analysis, a reagent carrier 16 arranged in a known spatial position, and a label 18 stuck to the container 10. Each of the chambers 14 includes a first wall 20 and a transparent second wall 22. The sample positioned stationarily inside the chamber 14 can be analyzed through the second wall 22. By means of the reagent carrier 16 including one or reagents to be mixed with the sample, the reagents are substantially immobilized in the known spatial position for an effective life duration (time). The label 18 directly/indirectly contains information useful for the biological fluid analysis such as information about the spatial position of the reagent carrier 16.

摘要： A method and apparatus for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration of an antibiotic for a target microorganism is provided. The method includes the steps of: (a) providing a microorganism growth medium; (b) providing a sensible reagent, which includes an antibiotic mixed with a marker, the marker having a signal with a magnitude proportional to the marker's concentration; (c) incorporating the reagent into the growth medium, in a manner that creates a gradient of concentrations of the antibiotic and marker within the growth medium; (c) inoculating the growth medium with the target microorganism; (d) incubating the inoculated growth medium for a period of time sufficient for the target microorganism to grow a detectable amount on a first section of growth medium; (e) determining a growth boundary between the first section of growth medium having detectable target microorganism growth and a second section having substantially no detectable target microorganism growth; (f) measuring the signal magnitude at the growth boundary; and (g) determining a minimum inhibitory concentration of the antibiotic using the measured signal magnitude.
