摘要： Surgical instruments and methods aimed at the proper placement and installation of textile-based orthopedic implants. More specifically, the surgical instruments include a flexible template, insertion instrument and multi-pronged awl. The flexible template may be formed of a combination of rigid and flexible materials and is deformable to match the contour of the target anatomy for subsequent placement of a textile-based orthopedic implant. The insertion instrument has a handle and a template end used for holding the flexible template and textile-based implant. The template end has one or apertures with hollow cylindrical extensions for holding the flexible template or textile-based implant and one or more cutout regions for better visualization and affixation of fixation screws. An awl is also provided with one or more prongs to initiate channels for the fixation screws. A method of implanting a textile-based orthopedic implant is also disclosed.

摘要： A textile-based surgical implant that can be inserted through any number of suitable surgical approaches, including but not limited to lateral, anterior, anterior-lateral, posterolateral, and/or posterior approaches. When applied to spine surgery and inserted into an intervertebral disc space, the implant restores the normal height of the intervertebral disc space, while advantageously preserving the natural motion of the spine. The textile construction of the implant is beneficial because it is generally compliant and thereby restores and/or improves spinal motion. The compliant nature of the textile-based implant provides the required flexibility and elasticity to advantageously support physiological movements, as opposed to fusion surgery which forms a boney bridge between adjacent vertebral bodies. In addition, the porosity and biocompatibility of the textile-based implant facilitates tissue ingrowth throughout part or all of the implant, which helps to secure and encapsulate the implant in the intervertebral space.

摘要： A posterior cervical fixation system including an occipital plate member, a cross connector, a pair of elongated spinal rods and a plurality of polyaxial screws. The occipital plate member configured for fixing to an occipital bone comprises an aperture to receive a bone anchor member to secure the occipital plate member to the occipital bone and at least one rod clamping element dimensioned to receive at least one spinal rod. The cross connector secures the pair of elongated spinal rods to vertebral bodies. The cross connector includes a pair of collet connectors and a cross bar that is configured to secure the pair of elongated spinal rods in a desired distance. Each polyaxial screw has an anchor head associated with a fastening member. The pair of elongated spinal rods is configured to extend along the vertebral bodies between the occipital plate member and at least one of the polyaxial screws.
