摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a base material web from being coated with at least a part of a coating material supplied from a coating unit and to properly define each of the side edge parts of a coated area by providing at least one of two side edge parts and an area to be coated of a base material web.
SOLUTION: In this apparatus 10, a coating unit 12 for coating a base material web 16 such as paper, which is guided in such a way that it unidirectionally passes around the peripheral surface of a support roller 18, with a coating material 14, has a distribution pipe 20 that is provided with plural spray nozzle 20b1, 20b2,... disposed parallel in the width direction Q of the web 16. At the time of coating the web 16 by using this apparatus 10, uncoated side edge parts 16c remain on the both sides of the coated area 16a of the base material web 16, respectively. In order to define the both side edge parts 16c, two shielding members 22 each of which has a cylindrical section 22a consisting of a body made of a thin sheet, are placed correspondingly to the side edge parts 16c respectively in the apparatus 10. In the each of the shielding members 22, by moving a front wall 22b formed at the end of the cylindrical section 22a with an adjustment mechanism 26, the boundary between the coated area 16b and one of the uncoated side edge part 16c can be defined.
