摘要： Exemplary embodiments provide automatic injection devices in which a shroud is automatically deployed to protectively sheath a needle after an injection is performed. Exemplary embodiments also provide shroud deployment assemblies including a shroud and a syringe carrier that, when cooperatively configured in an automatic injection device, ensure that the shroud is automatically and completely deployed after an injection is performed using the automatic injection device. Exemplary embodiments are also configured to ensure that, once the shroud is deployed to an extended position to sheath the needle, accidental forces applied to the shroud do not succeed in subsequently retracting the shroud to a retracted position in which the needle would become exposed.

摘要： A piercing assembly for a fluid connector, where the piercing assembly includes a piercing member, a hub that supports the piercing member, and a disk-shaped flange connected to the hub. The disk shaped flange includes a plurality of arms. At least a portion of an outer surface of the arms is curved to enable the piercing assembly to slide within a portion of the tubular fluid connector. The arms of the flange may be formed in a curved shape, an S-shape, a tab shape or in a maze-like configuration. The arms may also be defined by a plurality of cuts or slits formed into the flange. The arms of the flange are sized to engage one or more flanges on the inside of the fluid connector when the fluid connector is in an activated state.

摘要： A piston assembly (10) for a flowable materials container having a barrel (14) defining a fluid containing chamber (16). The barrel (14) is made of a body of a cyclic olefin containing polymer or a bridged polycyclic olefin containing polymer. An elastomeric piston (24) is slidably attached to the barrel (14) and provides a seal of the chamber. The piston (24) has a parylene coating on an outer surface thereof to reduce the necessary break away force. A plunger (22) is also provided and has a second mating member (42) removably connecting the plunger to a first mating member (44) of the piston. The first mating member (44) has a series of threads having a major diameter and a minor diameter, and the second mating member (42) has a series of threads having a major diameter and a minor diameter. The major and minor diameters of the second mating members (42) is appreciably smaller than the major and minor diameters of the other of the first mating member (44) to provide ease of connection.
