    • A video signal processing apparatus processes a video signal which is obtained by carrying out a dot interlaced scanning in terms of four fields so that picture element data which correspond to one field and in which the picture element data of first and third dot interlaced fields (or second and fourth dot interlaced fields) alternately exist on each line are transmitted during a time period of one field. The video signal processing apparatus comprises a luminance difference detecting part and an interpolation part. The luminance difference detecting part performs a detecting operation to detect a luminance difference between two luminance data which are belonged respectively to two mutually adjacent picture elements in the same line and are among the picture element data which correspond to one field. When the luminance difference detecting part detects a luminance difference between the two luminance data during two or more consecutive detecting operations, the interpolation part replaces one luminance data out of the two luminance data in which the luminance difference is detected by the other luminance data.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain compression and expansion of a moving image with small processing and to obtain an image with high quality by providing a characteristic point extract means to a moving image compression means and providing an orthogonal transformation function interpolation means to a moving image expansion means. SOLUTION: The time base interpolation moving image processing unit 1 is made up of a moving image compression means 2 and a moving image expansion means 3. Then the moving image compression means 2 is provided with a characteristic point extract means 7 to extract a characteristic point group based on an orthogonal transformation function. Furthermore, the moving image expansion means 3 is provided with an orthogonal transformation function interpolation means 11 interpolating and decoding the decoding orthogonal transformation function based on the characteristic point group. The characteristic point extract means 7 extracts a characteristic point group of amplitude component of the orthogonal transformation function group and the characteristic point group of the phase component and gives each information to an information arrangement means 8. The orthogonal transformation function interpolation means 11 decides an unknown amplitude element group and an unknown phase element group not in the characteristic point group information based on the characteristic point group information through linear interpolation or specific curve interpolation and gives the result to an orthogonal inverse transformation means 12.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a high-efficiency compression system for a color image by obtaining feature points of the equal-hue line of a hue function and feature points of the equal-luminance line of the luminance function in the area encircled with the equal-hue line and using the positions, luminance values, and chromaticity values of feature points of image information for transmission, recording, and image restoration. CONSTITUTION:This system consists of an image signal source 1, an A/D converter 2, a write control part 3, a hue contour tracer 5a, a luminance contour tracer 5b, an encoding and sending circuit 6, a receiving and decoding circuit 8, a luminance function reproducing device 9, etc. Then the whole image to be compressed and expanded is sectioned with the equal-hue line, and the positive and negative maximum points of the curvature of the equal-hue line and the positions and attributes (luminance and chromaticity) of important feature points which are not included in linear approximation are transmitted so that the equal-hue line can be reproduced on an expansion side.     • PURPOSE:To attain highly efficient picture expansion by extracting a contours of specific luminance in a mixed function picture and using them for interpolating luminance information for picture expansion so as to absorb an error when a picture is sent between different types of equipments. CONSTITUTION:A contour tracer extracts a contour in picture information and decides a characteristic point and sends characteristic point information to a reception decoding circuit 8 via a transmission line. The reception decoding circuit 8 decodes a coded signal and gives the result to a luminance function reproduction device 9. A search address generator 31 of the luminance function reproduction device 9 generates an address of picture elements other than a picture element of a characteristic point stored in a picture memory 29 and retrieves a picture element at a characteristic point closest to the picture element and describes a mark thereto. An interpolation face discrimination circuit 32 extracts three characteristic points for deciding interpolation from an applied characteristic point name. An interpolation value write circuit 33 calculates an interpolated value in an internal area from the three characteristic points to fill a luminance value of picture elements other than those of the characteristic point existing in the internal area.

    • PURPOSE:To easily expand a multidimensional picture by using a one-dimensional function for finding out a feature point in the vicinity in the case that the luminance information of a picture element other than the feature point is determined. CONSTITUTION:In an array converter 17, the information of the feature point supplied to a luminance function regenerating device 8 from a reception circuit in a state that is detected in detecting order depending on the scanning order of a picture scanning line is made to one-dimensional re-arrangement so that the state of array in which two-dimensional neighboring feature points are adjacent to each other is attained by adopting the technique of Peanoscan, etc. In this case, the local maximum point of picture information, the local minimum point of the picture information and the quick change point of the picture information are defined as the feature points of the picture, and at the time of the expansion of the multidimensional compressed picture obtained by compression by using the position of both the feature point and the picture information, in the case that the luminance information of the picture element other than the feature point is determined by an interpolation surface to be determined by plural feature points in the vicinity, the one-dimensional function is used sometime for finding out the feature point in the vicinity, and an expanded surface or an expanded solid is used sometime for finding out the feature point in the vicinity.
