    • The invention relates to a reel-up 3 for receiving and winding into a roll 4 a paper web W that arrives from a drying cylinder 2 in a paper making machine and which drying cylinder 2 is located upstream of the reel-up 3 and which paper web W follows a path of travel from the drying cylinder 2 to the reel-up 3. The reel-up 3 comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool 5 onto which a paper web W can be wound to create a paper roll 4 of increasing diameter and an endless flexible belt 6 mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt 6 forms a loop. The flexible belt 6 is positioned adjacent to the reel spool 5 to engage the paper web W against the reel spool 5 during winding. The reel-up 3 is arranged to receive the paper web W at the end of a path of travel of the paper web W which ends in a point of contact P with the flexible belt 6 where the paper web W meets the flexible belt 6 such that a wedge-shaped space WS is formed between the flexible belt 6 and the paper web W. From the point of contact P, the paper web W will be carried by the flexible belt 6 to the reel-spool 5. According to the invention, the reel-up 3 further comprises an air deflector 8 for diverting or evacuating air away from the wedge-shaped space WS formed between the flexible belt 6 and the paper web W. The invention also relates to a method of reeling a paper web.

    • The invention relates to a method of threading a fibrous web (W) onto a circular cylindrical object (3, 19) in a reel-up (2) for a paper-making machine (1). The reel-up (2) comprises an endless flexible belt (6) mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel. The endless flexible belt (6) is positioned adjacent the circular cylindrical object (3, 19) during winding and the fibrous web (W) residing on the outside surface (8) to engage the circular cylindrical object (3, 19) during winding such that the endless flexible belt (6) is deflected from the predetermined path of travel. When a fibrous web (W) is to be threaded onto the circular cylindrical object (3, 19), the circular cylindrical object (3, 19) is placed at a distance from the endless flexible belt (6) such that the endless flexible belt (6) is no longer deflected from the its path of travel. A narrow tail (17) is cut from a fibrous web (W) that is to be threaded and the narrow tail (17) is advanced on the outside surface (8) of the endless flexible belt (6). The circular cylindrical object (3, 19) is moved towards the endless flexible belt (6) such that the circular cylindrical object (3, 19) comes into contact with the narrow tail (17) and an adhesive substance is applied to the to the narrow tail (17) such that the narrow tail (17) will adhere to the circular cylindrical object and starts to be wound on the circular cylindrical object (3, 19), whereafter the narrow tail (17) is widened. The invention also relates to a reel-up (2) capable of carrying out the method.

    • The invention relates to a reel-up (1) for receiving and winding into a roll (2) a paper web (W) that arrives from a drying cylinder in a paper making machine and for starting a new roll (2) from a tail (19) formed by cutting the paper web (W). The reel-up (1) comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool (3) onto which a paper web (W) can be wound to create a paper roll (2) of increasing diameter; and an endless flexible belt (4) mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt (4) forms a loop. The flexible belt (4) is positioned adjacent to the reel spool (3) to engage the paper web (W) against the reel spool (3) during winding such that the flexible belt (4) is deflected from the predetermined path of travel by an amount relative to the amount of paper material wound on the reel spool (3). A pair of water nozzles (14, 15) is arranged such that each water nozzle (14, 15) can direct a web-cutting water jet stream against the paper web (W) to cut the paper web (W) at a point before the paper web (W) reaches the flexible belt (4). Each water nozzle (14, 15) is arranged to be movable in a direction which is transverse to the direction of movement of the paper web (W) and a glue nozzle (17) is arranged to direct a stream of glue against the reel spool (3) or against the tail (19). The invention also relates to a corresponding method for operating the reel-up.

The at least one blow box (7, 8, 9) has at least one nozzle (10) through which air is blown out of the at least one blow box (7, 8, 9) and the nozzle is shaped as a slot. According to the invention, the at least one blow (7,8, 9) box faces the flexible belt (6) with an outer surface (11) which is convexly curved such that dust which has been sucked through the flexible belt (6) and lands on the at least one blow box (7, 8, 9) is helped by gravity to glide along the outer surface (11) of the blow box (7, 8, 9) and fall of the blow box (7, 8, 9).
