摘要： PURPOSE: To allow a deeper cut depth and a higher feeding speed by forming a cavity for previously bending a chip along a side surface of an insert body, and forming a chip breaker portion at a position lower than a knife. CONSTITUTION: This cut insert 10 suitable for especially an aluminum wheel turning of an automobile which is detachably mounted to a tool holder includes a polygonal insert body partitioned with an upper surface 12, a lower surface, and side surfaces 14, and a cross portion of the side surfaces 14 is defined as a nose portion 16. A plurality of cavities (notches) 26 for previously bending a chip are formed in the land 20, main chip breaker portions 28, 30 are formed in the bottom of the chip guide groove 22, and thus, the material can be crushed into small chips.
