The evaluation includes smoothing or idealization of the scanning values, and includes linking of the smoothed or idealized scanning values with the original scanning values. The smoothed or idealized scanning values and data obtained from the linking are evaluated separately.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which enables the rapid visual detection of the characterization of a fancy yarn.SOLUTION: A characterization method of a fancy yarn comprises: scanning at least one characteristic of a fancy yarn in a length direction of the fancy yarn; assessing the scanned value; and outputting the result of the assessment. The result of at least one assessment is output in a graphic display form. The graphic display is viewed as a three-dimensional space. One-dimension of the three-dimensional space represents a slub length (L), two-dimension represents an increased weight (ΔM) or an increased diameter of a slub (92), and three-dimension represents a frequency (H) of observing each set of the slub length (L) and the increased weight (ΔM) or the increased diameter of the slub as slub characteristics (L, ΔM).

The graphic representation is a column chart or a bar graph, in which columns or bars are allocated to slubs (92) on the fancy yarn and are each composed of at least two elements. The length or area of a first element indicates a characteristic (L) of each slub (92), and the length or area of a second element indicates a characteristic (L) of an adjacent base yarn (91).
