    • Catalytic components for copolymerizing ethylene with alpha-olefins, or alpha-olefins with one another, and possibly with a diene as a termonomer, suitable for producing saturated and unsaturated elastomeric copolymers are disclosed. The catalytic components are compounds obtained by the reaction of:(1) a magnesium compound having the formula:R'.sub.y MgX.sub.n (OR).sub.2-n (wherein R, R'=alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl; X=Cl, Br; n is from 0 to 1.8, y is from 0 to 1, and n+y=2), or(2) a Mg-alcohol adduct;with a titanium compound having the formula:Ti(OR).sub.Z X.sub.4-Z'wherein X and R are as defined above and Z is from 0 to 1, the compounds being charcterized by a Mg/Ti ratio of from 0.5 to 50 and an OR/Ti ratio of from 0.7 to 10. The copolymers produced using these catalytic components are endowed with improved tension-set characteristics in the vulcanized state.

    • There are disclosed components of catalysts for polymerizing ethylene and mixtures of ethylene with alpha-olefins comprising the reaction product of (A) a magnesium compound, such as Mg-chloride, Mg-alcoholate or a Grignard compound, with (B) a titanium, vanadium or zirconium compound having at least two metal-oxygen bonds, such as a tetra-alcoholate, and with (C) a halogenated compound of metals of B, such as Ti tetrachloride.According to an aspect of the invention, the reaction product (A)+(B), before being reacted with (C), is treated with a silicum compound having a halogenating and/or reducing action.The catalysts according to the invention are suitable for obtaining ethylene polymers having a broad distribution of molecular weights.

    • There are disclosed catalyst components for polymerizing olefins, consisting of the product obtained by successively reacting(A) a Mg compound (halide, alcoholate, haloalcoholate, carboxylate, oxyde, hydroxyde, salt of an inorganic oxygen containing acid, Grignard reagent or reaction product of a Grignard reagent with a silicon compound), optionally in the form of a complex with an electron-donor compound, with(B) a compound having general formula [MO.sub.x (OR).sub.y ].sub.n, wherein M=Ti, V or Zr, R=an alkyl, an aryl or a cycloalkyl containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms, x may be zero, y is an integer not lower than 2, 2x+y=a valence of M, and n=an integer from 1 to 6 (inclusive), and with(C) a compound, other than the aluminium halides, exerting on component (B) a halogenating action and a reducing action, or a mixture of a halogenating compound with a reducing substance.These components, used to prepare the final catalysts by mixing them with organometallic compounds of metals belonging to Groups I, II and III of the Mendelyeev Periodic Table, provide catalysts which are particularly active in the polymerization of ethylene, alpha-olefins having at least three carbon atoms, and mixtures of ethylene with alpha-olefins and/or with diolefins or multiolefins.
