摘要： Apparatus and process for increasing mixing in a fluidized bed (56). A slide (70), which may be in the form of a tube or trough, transports particles from an upper zone (60) downward to a lower zone (62) at a different horizontal position, thereby changing the horizontal position of the particle and creating lateral mixing in the fluidized bed (56). Increased mixing may improve efficiency for an apparatus using a fluidized bed (56). For example, increased lateral mixing in a regenerator (50) may increase temperature and oxygen mixing and reduce stagnation to improve efficiency. A slide (70) may be relatively unobtrusive, inexpensive, and simple for a retrofit or design modification and may improve combustion efficiency at high rates by enhancing the lateral blending of spent and regenerated catalyst.

The dampening device (94) may be a baffle (94D) and direct streamlines from the outside of the chamber (78) toward the center to collide and mix. In another embodiment, a dampening device (94) may be a secondary disengager (94B) positioned above the disengager near the center of an upper chamber (78) of a regenerator (50). The secondary disengager (94B) may be a T disengager or may have an inverted can arrangement (94C) that may discharge gas and catalyst near the center of the upper chamber (78) and interrupt the streamlines. In another embodiment, a dampening device (94) may have swirl arms (94A) and may be positioned near the center of the regenerator (50) where streamlines may enter a swirl arm (94A) and be redirected counter to the direction of flow.
