    • A composition for application to skin comprising: (i) at least 40wt% ethanol, (ii) from 0.1 to 6 wt% perfume comprising non-polar perfume materials, (iii) optionally, at least 0.2 wt% surfactant, (iv) 0.1 to 6 wt% of porous microparticles comprising sol-gel derived material, the sol-gel derived material including a plurality of alkylsiloxy substituents and wherein the sol-gel derived material is obtained from: (a) at least one first alkoxysilane precursor having the formula: (R'O) 3 -Si-(CH 2 ) n -Ar-(CH 2 )m-Si-(OR') 3 (1) where n and m are individually an integer from 1 to 8, Ar is a single-, fused-, or poly- aromatic ring, and each R' is independently a C 1 to C 5 alkyl group and (b) optionally, at least one second precursor having the formula: (2) where x is 1, 2, 3 or 4; y is 0, 1, 2, 3; z is 0, 1; the total of x + y + z is 4; each R is independently an organic functional group; each an R' is independently a C 1 to C 5 alkyl group and R'' is an organic bridging group, where the sol-gel derived material is swellable to at least 2.5 times its dry mass, when placed in excess acetone, whereby at least part of the perfume remains outside the microparticles. Also, a method of prolongation of perfume delivery from a perfumed composition comprising the steps of: (i) adding sol–gel derived silica microparticles as described above to an ethanolic composition comprising ethanol and perfume, comprising non-polar perfume components, dispersed or dissolved in the ethanol, and optionally surfactant; (ii) applying the composition to skin to deposit the microparticles onto the skin (iii) evaporating the ethanol to leave some perfume and the microparticles on the skin; absorbing at least part of the non-polar perfume components from the liquid into the microparticles, preferably such that the microparticles increase in weight by 20 to 80 wt%, and (iv) releasing perfume from the microparticles over a period of from up to 24 hours.

    • A method of delivering an active agent to skin, preferably axilla, comprising the steps of: a) applying to skin a composition comprising at least 0.1 wt% of core shell microcapsules whereby the microcapsules come into contact with the skin each microcapsule having an inner shell formed of a first synthetic polymer and containing the active agent and the inner shell capable of allowing at least a portion of the active agent to pass from inside the inner shell to outside the inner shell to enable it to come into contact with the skin, the inner shell being coated with a coating of insoluble polyamide with a solubility in water of less than 1g/L at 25°C, the polyamide formed by the reaction of: (iii) at least one low molecular weight dicarboxylic acid having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms, or ester thereof; (ii) at least one poly(alkylene glycol) polyamine having the formula (I) H 2 N-(-C(R)H-CH 2 -O-)x-C(R)H-CH 2 -NH 2 (I) where x ranges from about 2 to 5, R is an alkyl of one to four carbon atoms; (iii) optionally, at least one high molecular weight dicarboxylic acid (dimer) having from 20 to 40 carbon atoms, or ester thereof; and wherein the coating further comprises a crosslinker to improve hardness and further reduce solubility, such that, while the coating is present the release of the active agent onto the skin is retarded; b) Sweating to produce sweat that comes into contact with at least part of the polyamide coating; c) Degrading the polyamide coating by the action of protease enzymes present in the sweat thereby to cause delayed release of the active agent onto the skin, preferably over a period of from 1 hour to 2 days after the microcapsule first comes into contact with sweat.
