    • A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display panel, a data processing circuit, a signal driver circuit, a scan driver circuit, and a power circuit. The liquid crystal display panel includes a plurality of pixels constituted by at least a plurality of pixel electrodes disposed in a matrix arrangement, a reference electrode opposing the pixel electrodes, and a liquid crystal disposed between the pixel electrodes and the reference electrode. The data processing circuit receives input display data and an input synchronizing signal, converts the input display data and the input synchronizing signal to output display data and an output synchronizing signal which are compatible with the signal driver circuit, generates an alternating signal as a timing signal for periodically inverting a polarity of a liquid crystal apply voltage applied to the liquid crystal by the signal driver circuit via the pixel electrodes, and outputs the output display data, the output synchronizing signal, and the alternating signal. A logical voltage level of the output display data output from the data processing circuit is different from a logical voltage level of the input display data received by the data processing circuit.

    • A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display panel which includes data lines and scanning lines intersecting each other in a matrix arrangement, and a plurality of pixels each including a switching element, a common electrode, and a pixel electrode, with the pixels being disposed at intersections of the data lines and the scanning lines. The apparatus also includes a plurality of signal driver circuits which supply driving voltage signals in accordance with display data to the data lines of the liquid crystal display panel, a scan driver circuit which sequentially selects the scanning lines of the liquid crystal display panel one at time, a power source circuit which supplies power voltages to the signal driver circuits and the scan driver circuit to supply power to the signal driver circuits and the scan driver circuit to enable the signal driver circuits and the scan driver circuit to operate. The signal driver circuits are divided into a first signal driver circuit group and a second signal driver circuit group. The power source circuit supplies a first power voltage to each signal driver circuit in the first signal driver circuit group, and supplies a second power voltage different from the first power voltage to each signal driver circuit in the second signal driver circuit group.

    • A liquid-crystal display system includes a data driver, a scan driver, a liquid-crystal panel, a line memory (204 in FIG. 2) in which input display data (101) for representing any of display-ON, display-OFF and halftone every pixel are stored for, at least, one line, and a halftone pattern generator (200) by which liquid-crystal display data (106) to be applied to the data driver are generated using the contents of the line memory and the input display data. The halftone pattern generator generates ON data in response to the input display data representing the display-ON of the pixel; it generates OFF data in response to the input display data representing the display-OFF of the pixel; and it generates the ON data and the OFF data alternately in successive frames as halftone data in response to the input display data representing the halftone display of the pixel, and it also compares the input display data of a pertinent line and those of a preceding line every line so as to invert a phase of changing-over the ON data and the OFF data in accordance with a result of the comparison. Since the number of ON pixels (or pixels for either of first and second data) for the halftone display is substantially equalized every frame, flickering can be reduced irrespective of display patterns.
