    • An image forming apparatus having a printing section loaded with a first toner group, and a second toner group having a higher chroma value than the first toner group; and a control section which is configured to: convert color information of each part of an image based on image data specified by a print job into values in a prescribed color space; make a first judgment of a toner group proper to the image by comparing the values in the prescribed color space with color reproducible range of previously registered each toner group; make a second judgment of the toner group proper to a recording sheet and/or a printing condition which being specified by the print job, by referring to previously stored correlation information; and determine the toner group to be used for printing the image, based on results of the first and second judgments.

    • Disclosed is a printing system having a data processing apparatus on which printer driver software capable of setting various kinds of print conditions is installed, and a printer for performing a printing operation based on print job data transmitted from the data processing apparatus. The printer driver software provides a user with a setting screen on which various user-selectable setting options for printing are displayed and can visually disable at least one of the setting options from the setting screen based on information about the state of the printer acquired from the printer. The information on the state of the printer includes information on the remaining amount of a consumable item loaded in the printer or an optional device connected to the printer, information on the size of a recording medium loaded in the printer, or information as to whether the optional device is connected to the printer.

    • A reader-printer for copying on a recording paper an image recorded in a microfilm is disclosed, which reader-printer is provided with shutter members capable of intercepting the projected light passing through the part of margin bordering the image. The size of the image in the microfilm is memorized in a memory. The size of the image to be copied and the size of the recording paper on which this image is to be formed are compared based on the ratio of magnification of projection of a projection lens to be used for projecting light through the image on a photosensitive member. The shutter members are driven based on a result of the comparison so that, of the path of the projected light directed to the photosensitive member, the part corresponding to the margin is automatically intercepted by the shutter members.

The magnification ratios determined by the angular position detector are stored into a memory and the magnification ratio to be achieved by a selectged one of the zoom lenses may be corrected when the zoom control gear on the zoom lens is detected to be in the particular angular position thereof.
