    • A storage apparatus includes a storage unit for storing data read/written by a host computer and provides the host computer with a storage area of the storage unit as one or more volumes. The storage management computer includes a first memory for storing task information including contents of an operation process performed on the storage apparatus, as well as a scheduled starting time and scheduled termination time of a process, and, in the case where first task information is stored in the first memory, when resources used in the process of second task information stored in the first memory are the same as resources used in the process of the first task information, the storage management computer computes times required for executing the first task information and the second task information, based on a time during which the processes of the first and second task information conflict with each other.

    • Management method refers to position management information indicating an installation position of each of storage apparatuses. Positions of a first storage apparatus including a first volume and a second storage apparatus including a second volume composing a copy pair with the first volume are specified from the position management information. A positional relationship between the first and the second storage apparatuses before data migration is determined. If the second volume is not to be migrated, a condition of a positional relationship after the data migration to be satisfied between a migration destination storage apparatus of data of the first volume and the second storage apparatus is determined. Storage apparatus which satisfies at least the condition of the positional relationship after the data migration is selected from the storage apparatuses as the destination storage apparatus.

    • Use a storage system having a first data storage unit. The first data storage unit has a temporary storage area which is prepared in advance for the purpose of being provided to a host computer. Prior to completion of a process of creating a normal storage area within a second data storage unit in response to a storage area allocation request, the temporary storage area is associated with access point information for specifying access point in response to the allocation request. The access point information is to be used by the host computer to access the normal storage area. Then prior to completion of the normal storage area creation process, an access by an access request including the access point information from the host computer is relayed to the temporary storage area associated with the access point information.

    • This storage system modifies the migration plan in accordance with the state of the migration destination when a plurality of volumes are migrated all at once. Migration-source volumes are migrated collectively to volumes inside the migration-destination storage apparatus. The user can make settings related to migration-source volumes and migration-destination volumes in a migration plan, and can establish a mid-process control plan for modifying the migration plan in the middle of processing. If a failure occurs in the migration-destination storage apparatus subsequent to the commencement of data migration processing, a processing method controller either cancels or temporarily halts the data migration processing, or changes the migration destination, on the basis of the mid-process control plan. When changing the migration destination, a previously selected alternate storage apparatus is selected as the new migration-destination storage apparatus. When a failure occurs in the alternate storage apparatus, yet another alternate storage apparatus is selected.
