    • A machine-tool spindle head makes it possible to prevent the size of the entire device from increasing and can easily control drive motors compared to a related device. A machine-tool spindle 1 head includes a spindle unit 4 and a fork-shaped support head 5. The spindle unit 4 rotationally drives a spindle 3 to whose end a tool 2 is mounted. The support head 5 supports the spindle unit 4 and includes a pair of fork arms 7 rotatably supporting a pair of support shafts 6. The spindle head 1 includes a drive shaft 8, a drive motor 9, and a pair of drive transmission mechanisms 10. The drive shaft 8 is rotatably supported in the support head 5 and extends parallel to an axial direction of the support shafts 6. The drive motor 9 rotationally drives the drive shaft 8. The drive transmission mechanisms 10 connect end portions of the drive shaft 8 and the respective support shafts 6 to each other, and transmit rotation of the drive motor 9 to the support shafts 6.

[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The angular indexing device for a machine tool has a rotating shaft (40) to which a member (11) to be rotated is fixed, a housing (30) surrounding the outer periphery of the rotating shaft (40) and attached to and detached from a machine tool body, bearings (B1, B2) placed between the housing (30) and the rotating shaft (40), and drive means placed between the housing (30) and the rotating shaft (40) and rotating the rotating shaft (40) to index angular positions. Drive motors (M1, M2, M3) are used as the drive means, and the motors (M1, M2, M3) have motor rotors and motor stators arranged in the housing (30) so as to be concentric with the rotating shaft (40). The drive motors (M1, M2, M3) are serially arranged so as to be spaced in the direction of the axis of the rotating shaft (40), and at least either of the housing (30) and the rotating shaft (40) is connected so that it can be split into multiple sections in the direction of the axis of the rotating shaft (40). The housing (30) and the rotating shaft (40) are splitably connected to the corresponding drive motors (M1, M2, M3).

The built-in unit (22) is connected to the enclosure unit (21) such that the built-in unit (22) can be inserted into and extracted from the enclosure unit (21), thus facilitating connection and disconnection of wiring between the stator of a DD motor mounted in a spindle head of a machine tool and a main body of the machine tool.
