    • A channel quality signaling method and a telecommunication system are provided. The system comprises a base station and one or more user equipment, the base station and the user equipment being configured to communicate with each other using a set of given resources. The system comprises a network element for determining connection information comprising the resources to which the channel quality signaling relates, the user equipment capability, and reference information regarding transmission power used by the base station, a network element for determining connection quality criteria. User equipment is configured to measure a parameter relating to the quality of the received signal from a signal received from a base station, determine an identification of physical connection parameters with which the connection quality criteria may be fulfilled given the determined connection information, and transmit the determined identification to the base station.

    • Disclosed herein are apparatus, methods and computer program products for transmitting signals in different frequency sub-bands used in a particular cell of a cellular wireless communications system in accordance with a power sequence and for selecting modulation schemes to be used in transmitting the signals in the different frequency sub-bands in dependence on signal transmission power allocated to the sub-bands in the power sequence. In the power sequence, signals to be transmitted in at least one sub-band are allocated a higher signal transmission power level than signals to be transmitted in other sub-bands used in the particular cell of the cellular wireless communication system. The differing signal transmission power levels allocated to the different sub-bands typically results in different SINR for signals transmitted at the higher signal transmission power levels and signal transmitted at the lower signal transmission power levels. In order to reduce the SINR difference between signals transmitted in the different sub-bands, modulation schemes are selected in dependence on the signal transmission power levels allocated to signals transmitted in the sub-bands.

    • In accordance with exemplary embodiments of the present invention a method, apparatuses and system are provided that may facilitate adaptiveness in channel quality reporting while limiting signaling overhead. The invention may include an adapter for setting the thresholds, boundaries or range of channel quality indices that are to be included in a report from a cell or user equipment terminal served by a network element, such as a Node B or an evolved Node B. The report provides an indication of the channel quality experienced by the cell or user equipment. The invention may also include determiner for selecting a number of channel quality indices to include in the report. The number of channel quality indices included may be based at least on the range selected by the network element, or may also be based on an observed scheduling history of the cell or user equipment terminal.
