    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell utilizing biological metabolism from methanol without generating CO 2 . SOLUTION: The fuel cell generates power such that in an enzyme solution containing a reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), methanol as a fuel is oxidized with an alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and a formaldehyde dehydrogenase (AIDH) into a formic acid, and NADH is oxidized with a diaphorase into an oxidized type NAD + , wherein H + which is generated in the reactions is transferred to an anode via an electrolyte while an electron which is generated in the fuel oxidation reaction of methanol is transferred to an electrode.
