    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction device which can sufficiently reduce a distance between two friction materials.
      SOLUTION: The friction device 1 includes a brake disc 2, and a brake pad 3 contacting the brake disc 2. Also, the friction device 1 includes a suction unit 4 for sucking gas existing between the brake disc 2 and the brake pad 3. The suction unit 4 is formed on the brake pad 3, and includes an intake path 5 opened on a face of the brake pad 3 contacting the brake disc 2, a suction pipe 6 connected to the intake path 5, and a negative pressure chamber 7 connected with the suction pipe 6. An opening/closing valve 8 is connected to the suction pipe 6. Furthermore, the friction device 1 includes an ECU 9 to control the valve 8 to be opened when the brake pedal is turned on, and to control the valve 8 to be closed when the brake pedal is turned off.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction member for suppressing occurrence of brake vibration and a brake pad.
      SOLUTION: The friction member comprises a base fiber, a binder and a friction modifier as main components. The friction modifier contains a resin coated rubber 19 obtained by coating a rubber 23 with a resin material 21 to decompose by heat during braking. The rubber 23 has a smaller modulus of elasticity than that of the resin material 21. Consequently the friction material suppresses occurrence of brake vibration when the friction member reaches a high temperature by frequent braking.

      SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the brake pad 10 equipped with a plate shaped friction member 12 pushed to a disk rotor rotated with a wheel and restraining rotation of the wheel is provided with a process for coating a coating 30 shielding oxygen on a sliding surface 12c of the friction member 12 including thermosetting resin before applying heat treatment in the atmosphere including oxygen. Thereby, an end of the friction member 12 is softer than other regions of the friction member.       SOLUTION: A support plate spring 40 composed of shape memory alloy is mounted between a brake pad 15 and a mounting 50. The support plate spring 40 holds the brake pad 15 and is held by the mounting 50. At low temperature, the support plate spring 40 firmly holds the brake pad 15 so that the brake pad 15 is comparatively strongly constrained. On the other hand, when the support plate spring 40 reaches a prescribed high temperature area by generation of braking force, the support plate spring 40 is thermally deformed, and holding power to the brake pad 15 is reduced, thus the brake pad 15 is weakly constrained. Thus following capability of the brake pad 15 is improved and brake vibration is reduced at high temperature where difference in thickness of a disc rotor is increased.
