The coils 14 are formed such that a distance between an inner periphery of the coil and the side surface 38 of the leg of the core member 16 is larger in the vicinity of the gap 24 than at both ends of the coil.

      SOLUTION: In a coil device, the deformation suppressing member 46 formed of a nonmagnetic material is arranged between a bobbin 40 and a coil 44 so that an upper-end part may abut against an upper block core 32 and that a lower-end part may abut against the inside of a lower block 36. When an AC current is applied to the coil 44, magnetostriction of magnetic cores and attraction and repulsion between the magnetic cores cause vibration as the current varies, but the deformation suppressing member 46 suppresses axial shrinkage of the magnetic core leg 31. Consequently, noise which may be generated accompanying the axial vibration of the magnetic leg 31 can be suppressed.

      SOLUTION: A reactor 1 includes a pillar-shaped central core 2, a coil 3 provided around the central core 2, a U-shaped core 4 which has an open side and covers all but a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the coil 3, a top core 5 and a bottom core 6 that cover the upper and lower ends of the central core 2 and the coil 3, respectively. In the reactor 1, a portion 3a of the outer peripheral surface of the coil 3 that is positioned on the open side of the U-shaped core 4, an open end portion 4a of the U-shaped core 4, one side portion 5a of the top core 5, and one side portion 6a of the bottom core 6 are formed so as to be approachable to a cooling member. A notch 5b is made at the center of one side portion 5a of the top core 5 which is provided so as to be approachable to the cooling member on the center line of the U-shaped core 4, and a coil terminal 11 is provided at the upper end center of one portion 3a of the coil 3 which is formed so as to be approachable to the cooling member. The coil terminal 11 is pulled out to the upper side of the top core 5 through the notch 5b.
