When the combustion air-fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine is made leaner than the theoretical air-fuel ratio, if NOis detected by the first NOsensor, the combustion air-fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine is made richer than the theoretical air-fuel ratio.

When the combustion air-fuel ratio of the second cylinder group is made rich, the exhaust gas flowing out from the NOstorage device passes through the NOreduction catalyst device.
