    • An image display system includes a light sensor operable to change a detection sensitivity. The light sensor outputs a signal according to an intensity of external light exerting an influence on a screen of a display apparatus and to the detection sensitivity. An illuminance acquisition part of a display control apparatus acquires illuminance by the external light based on the signal output from the light sensor. Moreover, a display adjuster adjusts a displaying state of the display apparatus in accordance with the illuminance by the external light acquired by the illuminance acquisition part. A sensitivity changer periodically alternates between a “low sensitivity” of the detection sensitivity and a “high sensitivity” of the detection sensitivity of the light sensor. Thus, even when changing significantly, the illuminance by the external light can be accurately and speedily acquired.

    • An optical touch panel comprises a transparent plate, a plurality of light-emitting devices and a plurality of light-receiving devices arranged around the transparent plate, a first substrate to which some of the light-receiving devices are fixed, and a second substrate to which others of the light-receiving devices are fixed. Each of the substrates has a surface layer that has a surface roughness which causes diffuse reflection of the same kind of light as light emitted by the light-emitting devices. A region having the surface roughness on a surface of the surface layer includes a region on the surface of the surface layer included in directivity ranges of the light-receiving devices fixed to the substrate.

    • A plurality of optical fibers are bundled, and the fiber bundle is cut at a part of a mouthpiece which is fixed on an intermediate part of the fiber bundle. Thus, the fiber bundle is divided into a first optical fiber bundle and a second optical fiber bundle. Division surfaces of the first and second optical fiber bundles have the same properties and condition since the first and second optical fiber bundles are formed of the fiber bundle that is obtained by bundling the same optical fibers. The first optical fiber bundle is assembled in an insertion section of an endoscope and the second optical fiber bundle is assembled in a flexible tube, and a first light guide in the insertion section of the endoscope and a second light guide in the flexible tube are formed. Thereby, a separable light transmission path of the light guide is formed.
