    • A projector includes an image projection device, an exterior chassis accommodating the substantially L-shaped image projection device, and a ventilation device configured to block leakage light and to insulate sound of the projector and to discharge air inside the exterior chassis to the outside through an air outlet formed on an end face located in a direction of projection. The image projection device includes a light source device, an optical modulation device, and a projection optical device. The ventilation device includes an axial fan with a suction port and a discharge port. An air outlet duct bends air discharged from the discharge port at an angle of substantially ninety degrees by a vertical wall substantially perpendicular to the discharging direction of air from the discharge port of the axial fan towards a side receding from the projection optical device to lead to the air outlet of the exterior chassis.

    • A projector comprises a light source device 413 in which a light source cooling air flow channel X for introducing a cooling air to an internal light source lamp 411 is formed and an internal housing 47 for housing an optical element unit 600, which subjects the light beam emitted from this light source device 413 to an optical processing. The internal housing 47 is formed with a pair of optical element cooling opening portions 471A, 472A, which are oppositely arranged by mutually pinching the optical element unit 600 in order to allow a cooling air to pass through according to the arrangement of the optical element unit 600. Further, the underside of the internal housing 47 is provided with a fan 54, in which a suction port 54A is directed to the opening portion 471A and an exhaust port 54B is connected to the light source cooling air flow channel X. Since an air flows along an arrow marked channel, the optical element unit 600 and the light source lamp 411 can be sufficiently cooled.

    • An optical component casing includes a lower casing in which a plurality of optical components are arranged, a lid-shaped upper casing (472) that closes the lower casing, and an optical component holding frame (446) that holds an incident-side polarization plate and a visual-angle correcting plate for arranging them at predetermined positions inside the lower casing. An optical component holding frame supporting surface (4471A) is formed on an upper side of the upper casing (472) to rotatably support the optical component holding frame (446). The optical component holding frame (446) includes a polarization plate holding frame (4461) for holding the incident-side polarization plate, and a correcting plate holding frame (4462) for holding the visual-angle correcting plate. The polarization plate holding frame (4461) slides on the optical component holding frame supporting surface (4471A) of the upper casing (472) and has a rotation guiding surface (4461B2) for rotatably supporting the correcting plate holding frame (4462).
