    • The present invention relates to a fuel cell having separate plates acting as bipolar plates which are sandwiched between the two adjacent cell elements. A cell stack of a fuel cell is formed therein with tunnel-shaped cooling gas passages extending between and open at two opposite sides thereof. Reactive gas supply passages for fuel gases and air are isolated from the cooling gas passages and extend between and open at the two opposite sides thereof which are different from those of the cooling gas passages. Therefore, the separate plates have their reactive gas supply passages supplied through manifolds, which are arranged at the sides of the fuel cell in a manner to face the entrance and exit ports of the reactive gas supply passages. The reactive gases are supplied at rates sufficient to be consumed by the galvanic reaction. The cooling gas passages are supplied through manifolds, which are arranged at the other sides of the fuel cell, i.e. different from the sides of the reactive gas supply passages. The cooling gases take no part in the galvanic reaction at a proper flow rate, whereby the respective cell elements constructing the cell stack of the fuel cell is cooled uniformly without establishing a temperature difference between the cell elements.

    • The present invention is intended to provide a gauge presenting the pointer a precise position on the gauge face indicia, and having a lightly loaded motor.To attain the afore-mentioned objective, there is provided a gauge, comprising a gauge face having indicia; a pointer configured to indicate a position on the gauge face based on input received from measurement; and an instrument for driving the pointer. The instrument for moving the pointer includes a flexible member connected to the pointer; a first pulley configured to respectively wind up both ends of the flexible member; a control device for preventing the flexible member from deviating from the first pulley; a second pulley spaced apart from the first pulley and configured to roll up the center portion of the flexible member; a motor configured to rotate the first pulley based on input received from the measurement and to drive the pointer around the gauge face; and a tension member configured to provide at least one end of the flexible member with sufficient tension to prevent sag or looseness of the flexible member disposed between the first pulley and the second pulley. In such a gauge, the length of the flexible member, which is uncoiled from the first pulley during the migration of the pointer from its initial position, is longer than the migration distance of the pointer.

    • Provided is a pointer illumination structure which is simple, and in which a rotary part including a pointer body can be made lightweight. A containing cover 20 of a pointer movement 1 contains a rotation driving mechanism including a rotor 32 and an intermediate gear 33, an output gear 34, and so on. The rotation driving mechanism transmits rotation based on a measured amount to the output gear 34, and rotates a pointer body 10 supported by a bearing 22c, by way of the output gear 34. The bearing 22c rotatably supports a shaft 11 of the pointer body 10. A pointer 12 of the pointer body 10 indicates a measuring value according to rotation of the pointer body 10 around the shaft 11. A light source 13 is provided for illuminating the pointer 12 of the pointer body 10. In the pointer movement 1, the bearing 22c is formed of a material through which light from the light source 13 can pass, and integrally formed with the lower cover 22 of the containing cover 20 at a position more adjacent to the light source 13 than the shaft 11 of the pointer body 10, on an optical path.
