摘要： Provided is an illumination apparatus for a liquid crystal display apparatus having a plurality of transmission parts arranged two-dimensionally, having a plurality of aspherical lenses, which is installed in response to each of a plurality of the transmission parts and concentrates light for each of a plurality of the transmission parts; a plurality of light emission parts R1 installed in response to each focal point position of a plurality of the aspherical lenses; and an electroluminescence layer containing a non-light emission region R2 installed between a plurality of the light emission parts R1 themselves. Each of a plurality of the aspherical lenses has an inner side lens face containing an intersection with an optical axis AX, and an outer side lens face enclosing said inner side lens face, and curvature in the outer side lens face is smaller than curvature in the inner side lens face.

摘要： In a liquid crystal display device, a first substrate adjacent to a liquid crystal display panel is subjected to rubbing in a first direction that is the same as a polarization axis direction of light emitted from the liquid crystal display panel, and a second substrate that interposes a liquid crystal layer with the first substrate is subjected to rubbing in a second direction at a right angle with the first direction. The second direction is made the same as the polarization axis direction of polarized sunglasses to allow visual recognition of the image using the polarized sunglasses. Electrode patterns formed by alternately providing narrow and wide electrodes are arranged on the upper and lower substrates in a direction at a right angle with each other so that the rubbing directions on the upper and lower substrates form a right angle to ensure stable 3D display.

摘要： An illuminating device includes: a light source; a light guide plate which converts light emitted from the light source into a surface light ray and emits the surface light ray through a front surface of the light guide plate; and an optical sheet which changes a propagation direction of the surface light ray emitted from the light guide plate. The light source is arranged in end surface different from the front surface in the light guide plate. A polarization state converting structure to convert a polarization state of the light propagating through the light guide plate is provided in a surface opposing the front surface in the light guide plate. The polarization state converting structure contains an inclination plane having a ridge line in a direction different from a direction in parallel to the longitudinal direction of the end surface.

摘要： An object of the present invention is to realize an image display device for color display with high luminance and high contrast. In the present invention, a unit cell 111 is filled with electrophoresis ink including two kinds of particles different in chargeability and color being dispersed in transmissive solvent 107. Voltage is applied to an opposite electrode 103, a stacked lower electrode 104 and an upper electrode 105 and thereby electrically charged particles 108a and charged particles 108b are moved to a first opening 106a and a second opening 106b where an insulating layer 110 is provided on the lower electrode 104 and the upper electrode 105. Thus assemblage and diffusion state of two kinds of particles are controlled. Thereby, a unit cell 111 obtains four display colors. Since the lower electrode 104 can be made to be a reflecting layer covering the entire unit cell, it is possible to make the aperture ratio large and the reflection percentage large.
