摘要： An apparatus and method allowing for high-quality data acquisition and playback processing based on content information transmitted from a server to a client are provided. Property information constituting meta-information corresponding to content-associated attribute information stores data-scheme information on original content held by the server, such as file format information, codec information representing an encoded-data scheme, and resolution information. In response to a content information acquisition request from the client, content information including the data-scheme information on the original content is generated and is transmitted to the client. This structure allows the client to output a content transmission request in which the optimum data scheme is determined based on the data scheme of the original content. Therefore, high-quality data acquisition and playback can be achieved.

摘要： An apparatus and a method capable of efficiently and accurately constructing an access control configuration having high security are realized. Only the MAC address of a controller (client) 351 authorized by a user is authenticated and registered in a MAC address table of a device 352, and the device 352 performs MAC address filtering for permitting access by the controller 351 (client) which is authenticated and registered in the MAC address table. Furthermore, by making a registration completion notification and by performing version adjustment, a reliable access control configuration is constructed. The device authentication apparatus 350 avoids access from an unauthorized party which is not authenticated and registered, and makes the presence of a server not known to the controller which attempts to illegally perform device authentication. Therefore, access control with high security is realized.

摘要： An apparatus and a method capable of efficiently and accurately constructing an access control configuration having high security are realized. Then, the communication apparatus 1 receives related information corresponding to that request information (S11), and stores it (S13). This enables the latest related information to be further correctly obtained out of related information concerning contents, and obtaining related information before updating is reduced.

When the source apparatus or an other apparatus connected to the network transmits a command to configure a data input section of the sink apparatus to input data outputted from the source apparatus, data are prepared to indicate that a configuration of the data input section is at least temporarily disabled as a response from the sink apparatus. When the apparatus that transmitted the command receives the data indicating that the configuration is at least temporarily disabled corresponding processing may be executed. When stream data are transmitted through a network it can be easily determined by an other apparatus on the network whether the sink apparatus is ready to input data.

摘要： An electronic device system of the invention has a controlling device and a controlled device interconnected via a data bus which complies with a predetermined communication format and which allows data to be exchanged between the devices. In a command transmission/reception transaction, the controlling device transmits a command to the controlled device. If an interim response is returned from the controlled device, the controlling device regards the transaction as complete and terminates the process without waiting for receipt of a final response from the controlled device.
