    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily separate water and fat in spite of the presence of the nonuniformity of a magnetostatic field by rewinding a phase value information according to a region expansion phase rewinding method by a multinominal model and determining respective pieces of pixel data in which the water and fat are dominant by using the phase value information rewound according to the specific equation. SOLUTION: The water and fat co-existence MR signal S subjected to Fourie transform can be expressed by equation I in an image frequency region. In the equation, W, F are respectively the water and fat signals, Φ is the signal phase by the influence from the nonuniformity of the magnetostatic field and other systems. The signal phase Φ is quantified by obtaining the argument of the square of the MR signal S of the complex image region in an S (step) 32 and can be mathematically expressed by equation II. In the equation, arg S2} is the operation to repeat the phase of the input signal. Discrimination as to whether the phase rewinding is necessary or not is executed in S33 and the region expansion algorithm by a multinominal model is used for the phase rewinding in S34. When the rewinding phase Φ is once obtd. in S35, the pixel (Iwater-pixel) of the water the (Ifat-pixel) of the fat are calculated in S36 in accordance with equations III, IV.
