    • A color cathode-ray tube comprises a phosphor screen formed on an inner surface of a face plate and having a plurality of three-color phosphor layers. A plurality of first index phosphor layers are provided on the phosphor screen and extending in parallel to the three-color phosphor layers, and a plurality of second index phosphor layers are provided on the phosphor screen and inclined to the three-color phosphor layers at a predetermined angle. Electron guns are provided in an envelope and emit electron beams to the screen section so as to dividedly scan a plurality of regions of the screen section. Photoelectric conversion devices are provided on the envelope and detect first index signals and second index signals generated from the first and second index phosphor layers by scanning of the electron beams, respectively. Deflection devices for deflecting the electron beams are controlled by a controller in response to the detected first and second index signals.

    • An electron gun for producing and directing at least one electron beam along a beam path comprises a beam forming section and a main lens section for focusing the electron beam. The main lens section includes first and second electrodes arranged along the beam path and each having an aperture through which the electron beam is passed, and an auxiliary electrode located between the first and second electrodes and having an aperture through which the electron beam is passed. The aperture of the auxiliary electrode is wider than those of the first and second electrodes. Different voltages are applied to the first and second electrodes, and the auxiliary voltage between the voltages is applied to the auxiliary electrode. An electrostatic field formed between the first and second electrodes is corrected by placing a correcting electrode within the bathtub-shaped auxiliary electrode which is responsive to the auxiliary voltage such that the electron beams are more effectively converged.

    • The invention is directed to a picture tube comprising an electron gun installed within an evacuated envelope which receives various potentials supplied from a potential source. The electron gun comprises a cathode for generating an electron beam and a plurality of successively arranged electrodes for focusing and accelerating the electron beam. One or more supporting rod secures the electrodes. Each of the supporting rods comprises an insulator portion and a glass resistance portion. The glass resistance portion acts as a solid bulk resistor and secures in direct connection with at least one electrode of the electron gun. Consequently, potentials from the potential source are applied to certain electrodes through the glass resistance body. In a further embodiment the entire supporting rod consists of a homogeneous glass resistance body.
