摘要： A novel liquid crystalline compound having a large dielectric anisotropy value, a small change in the threshold voltage depending upon temperatures, and an improved solubility in other liquid crystal materials at low temperatures, and a liquid crystal composition containing the compound are provided, which liquid crystalline compound is expressed by the formula (1) ##STR1## wherein R is H or an alkyl group of 1 to 10C; l is an integer of 1 to 9; m, n and o are each independently 0 or 1; A.sub.1, A.sub.2 and A.sub.3 are each independently trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group, 1,4-phenylene group, one or more H atoms on the ring of which group may be replaced by F, or the like group; Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2 and Z.sub.3 are each independently --COO--, etc., but at least one of them is --COO--; X is CF.sub.3, etc.; and Y.sub.1, and Y.sub.2 are each independently H or F.

摘要： The present invention provides liquid crystalline compounds having compatibility with the other liquid crystal materials and excellent stability, and having low viscosity and high transition temperature of the isotropic phase, liquid crystal compositions containing at least one kind of the liquid crystalline compounds, and liquid crystal display devices constituted by using the liquid crystal compositions. The liquid crystalline compounds are represented by the following formula: R—A1—Z1—A2—Z2—A3—Z3—A4—(CH2)m.X (1) wherein R indicates H or an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms (one or more methylene group (—CH2—) in the alkyl group may be replaced by —O—, —S—, —CO—, —CH═CH— or —C≡C—, but —O— or —S— are not continuous), m indicates an integer of 1 to 10; X indicates F, Cl, Br, I or OH; A1, A2, A3 and A4, each independently, indicate a trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group, a 1,4-phenylene group in which one or more hydrogen atoms on the ring may be substituted by a fluorine atom, a cyclohexenylenediyl group, a pyrimidine-2,5-diyl group, a pyridine-2,5-diyl group or a 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl group; Z1, Z2 and Z3, each independently, indicate —(CH2)2— or a covalent bond, and at least two of Z1, Z2 and Z3 indicate covalent bonds.

摘要： A compound represented by the following general formula (1) is provided. 摘要： Liquid crystalline compounds which have a wide temperature range of liquid crystal phase, low viscosity, and improved threshold voltage; liquid crystal compositions; and liquid crystal display devices comprising the composition can be provided; and the liquid crystalline compounds are expressed by the general formula (1) Ra—A1—Z1—A2—Z2—A3—(Z3—A4)m—Rb (1) wherein Ra represents an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms one or more —CH2— in which alkyl group may be replaced by —O— or the like, and one or more hydrogen atoms in which alkyl group may be replaced by a halogen atom; Rb represents Ra, a halogen atom, or cyano group; A1, A2, A3, and A4 independently represent a divalent ring group; Z1, Z2, and Z3 independently represent an alkenylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, —COO—, a covalent bond, or the like provided that at least one of Z1 to Z3 represents an alkenylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, and at least one of Z1 to Z3 represents —COO— or —OCO—; and m is 0 or 1.
