    • In a driver circuit for a charge pump circuit capable of switching a step-up ratio, first and second oscillators oscillating at different frequencies are provided. The charge pump circuit is controlled by a control unit. The first oscillator outputs a first periodic signal required for the control unit to control the step-up action of the charge pump circuit. The second oscillator outputs a second periodic signal employed for a time measurement and having a frequency set lower than that of the first periodic signal. The control unit monitors the state of the driver circuit itself or the charge pump circuit and switches the step-up ratio of the charge pump circuit if a predetermined state continues for equal to or more than a predetermined period of time. The control unit turns on only the first oscillator when the step-up ratio of the charge pump circuit is lager than 1 to thereby perform the control of the step-up action and the time measurement based on the first periodic signal. On the other hand, when the step-up ratio is 1, the control unit turns on only the second oscillator and performs the time measurement based on the second periodic signal.

    • A voltage generating circuit includes a voltage generating unit which generates plural constant voltages, plural switches, a control signal generating unit and a decoding circuit. The switches select any one of the plural constant voltages generated from the voltage generating unit and outputs it from a voltage output terminal. The control signal generating unit generates plural control signals which are switched between a high level and a low level through trimming on plural fuse resistors. The decoding circuit controls the state of connection of the switches-according to the control signals. The reference voltage Vx output from the voltage output terminal is applied to an electric-current generating resistor through an operational amplifier and a transistor to generate a constant electric current.

This monitoring circuit includes a voltage source which generates a threshold voltage that follows the fluctuation of the voltage at which the constant current circuit can operate stably, compares the voltage across the two ends of the constant current circuit and the threshold voltage generated by the voltage source, and outputs a comparison result Vs to a control unit. The control unit controls the charge pump circuit on the basis of the output of the monitoring circuit.

The LCD panel module is so configured that a type-switching unit can switch over between Type 1 in which the LED elements are connected in parallel and Type 2 in which the LED elements are connected in series. The common boosting converter preliminarily boosts a battery voltage supplied from a lithium ion battery to a low voltage or a high voltage and supplies the boosted voltage to the parallel-connected LED elements or series-connected LED elements respectively. The LCD boosting circuit boosts the low voltage and supplies it to an LCD panel, while the LDO control circuit steps down the high voltage and supplies it to the LCD panel.

A feedback output terminal may be included of the current driving circuit which allows the cathode terminal voltage of the light-emitting elements to be input to a control circuit for the switching regulator as a feedback signal. The control circuit and the current driving circuit may be integrally provided in the form of separate semiconductor chips.
