    • A magnetic circuit for a voice coil motor of flat-coil type used with a magnetic device is disclosed. The magnetic circuit is intended to flatten the torque constant curve for swinging the rotor of the voice coil motor while at the same time preventing the torque constant from decreasing. For this purpose, the magnetic circuit comprises an upper yoke and a lower yoke opposed to a flat coil arranged on the rotor, a pair of side yokes for coupling the upper and lower yokes to each other at the ends thereof, and a magnet arranged on the lower yoke. The magnet is shaped arcuate so that the width in the neighborhood of each end thereof in the direction of motion of the flat coil is larger than a standard width and smaller than the standard width in the portions of the magnet between each end and the central portion thereof.

    • A first component defines a threaded bore. A second component is kept in contact with the first component. A clamping screw penetrates through the second component and is screwed in the threaded bore. A lubricating agent film is interposed between the threaded bore and the clamping screw. The lubricating agent film is made of a macromolecular compound having a polar end group. The lubricating agent film serves to reduce the friction between the threaded bore and the clamping screw. Generation of dust is prevented when the clamping screw is being screwed into the threaded bore. In addition, the clamping screw exhibits a larger axial force at a certain amount of a fastening torque as compared with a conventional clamping screw. A larger axial force can thus be applied to hold the second component onto the first component.

    • A recording disk drive includes a shroud wall spaced from a peripheral end of the recording disk by a gap equal to or smaller than 0.5 mm. A rectification groove is formed in the shroud wall at a position adjacent an area opposed to the peripheral end of the recording disk. Reduction in gap between the peripheral end of the recording disk and the shroud wall serves to reduce the amplitude of the flutter to be induced in the rotating recording disk. Moreover, as the gap gets smaller, the flutter reduces at a higher rate in response to increase of the depth of the rectification groove. Specifically, if the gap between the peripheral end of the recording disk and the shroud wall is set equal to or smaller than 0.5 mm, the groove can be made shallower so as to still efficiently suppress the flutter of the rotating recording disk.
