    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen which allows an observation distance to be adjusted while brightness of an image is being maintained, and further to provide a projection system using the screen.SOLUTION: In an optical control layer 3 of a screen 10, a first angle region ω which determines diffusion distribution of reflected light is set to be different for different positions on the screen 10 regarding a control direction D1 for performing diffusion control of light. On account of this, by adjusting diffusion distribution of image light emitted from a surface of the screen 10, in response to a position on the screen 10, to be greatly inclined toward a lower side as the position is closer to an upper end UE side and to be greatly inclined toward an upper side as the position is closer to a lower end BE side, for example, a direction in which the image light is diffused and emitted is set to correspond to a position of an observer assumed with magnitude of an angle range to be diffused remaining 30° without any change in angle, a projection image can be observed while brightness of an image is being maintained and an observation distance L can be adjusted to be shortened.

      SOLUTION: The reflection type screen includes: a sheet type screen base material 2 which transmits projection light L1, and has a first surface having a plurality of recesses 6 and a second surface opposite to the first surface; a reflection film 3 which reflects the projection light L1; and an absorption film 4 which absorbs external light L2 incident from a direction different from that of the projection light. The reflection film 3 is formed on the second surface, and the absorption film 4 different from the reflection film 3 formed on the second surface is formed at a part of the recesses 6 so as to reflect the projection light L1 incident from a predetermined direction and absorb the external light L2.
