    • A process for improving the solubility of hydrophobic amino acids in which hot saturated aqueous solutions of at least two different amino acids are first combined. A first step includes making a hot saturated aqueous solution of a first and hydrophobic amino acid having a low solubility in water. A second step includes making a hot saturated aqueous solution of a second and hydrophilic amino acid having a high solubility in water. Then the two hot saturated aqueous solutions are mixed to prepare a combined hot solution mixture, and dried. The resulting product is an amino acid food supplement which is blended into animal feed. The preferred amino acids are tryptophan and lysine, when the animal is a domestic farm animal. A preferred ratio is where the concentration of tryptophan is greater than 50 grams per liter and the concentration of lysine is greater than 300 grams per liter.

    • A camshaft includes a carrier shaft to be mounted rotatably in a shaft axis and at least one cam pack axially displaceable on the carrier shaft. The cam pack includes at least two cams and at least one adjusting member for axial adjustment of the cam pack. The cams and adjusting member are interconnected in an axially adjacent configuration by an integrally molded body. The body is integrally molded on at least one cam and the adjusting member by an original molding process and a composite structure is formed by the integrally molded body. The composite structure can be mounted in a direct configuration on the carrier shaft to be axially displaceable thereon. The cams and the adjusting member include inner toothing engaging in an axially displaceable manner with outer toothing of the carrier shaft. A cam pack and a method for producing a camshaft are also provided.

    • The present invention is directed to carboxylic acid and ester moieties that are attached to a carbon chain that is between 2 and 24 carbons in length wherein, the chain contains at least one dioxanone ring system, said dioxanone being formed from two adjacent carbons in the chain and/or at least one carbon in the chain is substituted with a pendant dioxanone ring system. In preferred embodiments, the carbon chain is a fatty acid residue. The carbons of said chain can be optionally substituted, saturated or unsaturated. When two or more said ester moieties are present, the invention is directed to a polyester such as a triglyceride, that contains multiple carbon chains wherein each chain is independently derivatized such that the triglyceride contains at least one dioxanone ring system, said dioxanone being formed from two adjacent carbons in at least one of said chains. The present invention is also directed to a method of preparing a dioxanone containing composition or fatty acid derivative. The present invention is also directed to coating formulations and polymers that utilize a dioxanone containing composition or fatty acid derivative, and methods of making such coatings and polymers.

    • The present invention provides a process for extracting sterols from a high solids, thermochemically hydrolyzed corn fiber using ethanol as the extractant. The process includes obtaining a corn fiber slurry having a moisture content from about 20 weight percent to about 50 weight percent solids (high solids content), thermochemically processing the corn fiber slurry having high solids content of 20 to 50% to produce a hydrolyzed corn fiber slurry, dewatering the hydrolyzed corn fiber slurry to achieve a residual corn fiber having a moisture content from about 30 to 80 weight percent solids, washing the residual corn fiber, dewatering the washed, hydrolyzed corn fiber slurry to achieve a residual corn fiber having a moisture content from about 30 to 80 weight percent solids, and extracting the residual corn fiber with ethanol and separating at least one sterol.
