    • A hybridoma producing a monoclonal antibody recognizing the C-terminus of human brain natriuretic peptide (hBNP) was cultivated in a medium or the abdominal cavity of a mouse to recover the monoclonal antibody from the medium or ascites accumulated in the abdominal cavity. An immunoassay for hBNP was established using the monoclonal antibody. The immunoassay for hBNP of the invention is so sensitive that the minimum detection limit is 1 pg/ml and can therefore determine the hBNP level in blood plasma directly, without the extraction of hBNP from blood plasma. It is useful for diagnosing diseases such as hypertension and the like, and states of the heart, kidney, and the like by using the increase/decrease of the hBNP level as an index.

    • An inflatable air-belt device including a shoulder belt and lap belt. When the air-belt is inflated, a tension is generated in the shoulder belt and is transferred to the lap belt so that both the shoulder belt and the lap belt adhere closely to an occupant. When an emergency condition is detected, an inflator is actuated to inflate a bag located in the shoulder belt creating a tension of more than a predetermined strength in the shoulder belt. The lap belt is drawn toward the shoulder belt to release a stopper located in a buckle positioned between the belts. The lap belt moves toward the shoulder belt through a hole located in the tongue of the buckle. A nozzle for receiving pressurized gas is inserted in a slit in the belts so that the lap belt may move smoothly toward the shoulder belt without obstruction.

    • A device to be connected between the engine and power train of a construction vehicle or the like for damping the fluctuations of the engine output torque. The damper comprises a housing having a drive plate, and a driven plate coaxially mounted in the housing for angular displacement within limits. Mounted between the housing and the driven plate are two friction drive mechanisms for frictionally transmitting the rotation of the housing to the driven plate. A plurality of torsional or compression springs are mounted to the driven plate so as to laterally project out of windows in the housing, so that when a slip occurs in the friction drive mechanisms, the housing acts endwise on the springs to cause their compression.
